The dramatic and tragic backstories for the 4 main characters are very rich, real, and relevant. Using the very outside-the-box classroom assignment was a very clever way to force these characters together. Make sure you stay after the credits - the one loose end left hanging is tied up well!
Excellent, genuine film

There's a natural, believable quality to this film. It feels like we're living it with the characters. The film had me throughout and was so genuine, I was deeply affected by it. Great backdrop of Philadelphia and it's locales. An excellent movie!

Awesome movie! Ralph Celestin delivers a beautiful film that digs deep but also has a feel good factor to it. The two lead actors give memorable performances and perfectly embody the quest of identity through a very touching romance.

What's Important!

This film deals with the importance of connecting truthfully with others and facing the truth about oneself. The four main characters gave some strong performances and the photography was very good with aerial views of Philadelphia along with many identified locales. A love letter to the city.

I thoroughly enjoyed this! Great story, well shot and directed. And for the most part, the acting was great. (There were a few moments that I didn't think were great, but overall, the cast does a solid job).
Was just the kind of coming of age film I needed to see!
Well done.

This is such a good film. I enjoyed it from beginning to end! There were no flat spots for me! I never drifted over to my phone to check messages or off to the kitchen to fetch a snack. The actors were all wonderful! They all were so good! Terrific story that thoroughly held my interest. Well done all! Bravo!!
A Poignant Tragedy
dtittone20 February 2023
Triple-threat writer, director, and actor Ralph Celestin explores thematic concepts such as relationships and heartbreak in his indie film, "Boston to Philly." For an indie film, Ralph seamlessly navigates a multitude of locations and a large cast. The chemistry between Ralph (Boston) and Mia Mendez (Philly) is very clear and continues to strengthen as the story progresses. Cinematographer Eric Lovett Jr. Does a great job capturing the emotions of the characters and also provides some great shots of Philadelphia. A poignant tragedy, "Boston to Philly" proves itself as an admirable film worthy of the various awards it has won in the festival circuit!
Tragedy to Triumph

A beautifully written love story that has many layers. The cinematography was great along with the music. The acting was spot on. After watching this film, I would love to take a trip to Philly. It was showcased so beautifully.
Great film! Great chemistry!

Love the chemistry between the two main characters. At first you might think this is going to be a traditional love story. But it's not. It's a story about walls; some that are set up by society, some people themselves set up to hide the pain of loss or guilt. And it's these walls the film challenge the characters (and subsequently the audience) to break down. And because each character has his or her own hurdle to overcome and does not rely on another to save him or her, it truly becomes exciting to see how it all play out and how it influence the characters interacting with each other.
Set in the heart of Philly

Boston to Philly ain't your regular flick. It's a gripping indie ride that spins a tale of friendship, redemption, and self-discovery. Set in the heart of Philly, this joint hooked me right in, showcasing why indie films are my jam. The lead actors? Straight-up chemistry. You can feel it, adding that realness to their characters. The director? A storytelling wizard, keeping the crowd locked in with a mix of humor and heartfelt moments, smooth like butter. This movie is a gem for those craving a deep, character-driven drama. It's a nod to the storytelling game and the lasting ties that carve our paths.
Two Cities, One World

I really enjoyed Ralph Celestin's "Boston to Philly". Throughout its run, some poignant points are made about heartbreak, friendship, and loss. It also makes great use of Philadelphia's beautiful scenic views, even adding a little locator at the bottom to remind us where we are. Also love the romantic scenes between Philly and Boston, where you can really tell both actors had a ton of chemistry. I also enjoyed Celestin's use of repeating transitions, back and forth, from present day to a traumatizing amount from the past.
Things get heavy, intense heart pounding moments with gunshot wounds, lead to more personal moments with Boston and Willy G. Celestin has an assured hand, balancing all of these dramatic moments that are woven throughout, without ever losing sight of the characters or their struggles. There's a truly powerful scene with a church choir later in the film, that reflects the yearning and hope of its story.
Check out "Boston To Philly" today and spend some time in this carefully crafted world.

Interesting story

It's an interesting film with lots of thick layers to the story. The drama is relatable and the editing thoughtfully weaves together the characters' stories. A stronger exploration of the script and directing would have made the action and cast more riveting, but for an indie film, it's worth a watch if you want a heavier drama.
Wonderful Film!

A Love story at it's finest. This is a Great cast. The acting was really good and story line was realistic but also unique. Both came from tragedy they both found love. There was also a lot of depth to this film and it touched on subjects that should be talked about as much as possible. So kudos to the writers for that. And kudos also to the Director for capturing what reminded me of 'old school' romance. That era seems lost but I could see it here in this film. Well done!
Glad I took a chance on this

A heartfelt indie gem that explores personal trauma and relationships. Ultimately it's about healing and moving past the obstacles the world gives us and the obstacles we put up ourselves. A thoughtful, moving story -- well told and well acted. Bravo to the filmmakers!
Now this is indie filmmaking

I can't say enough good things about this movie. It's inspiring, full of heart, full of ideas. It sort of meanders... in a good way for me. It's got a loose plot revolving around a group of students who are tasked with learning about each other for a school assignment. But that's really just a device, the film is way more interested in the types of people that the camera is pointed at, and where they came from, than anything else. I felt totally invested in the romance story as well as the friendship stories. Plus this is an indie movie that actually surprised me with some of the reveals that came later in the game.
Love the wide range of music tracks selected. Love the multiracial cast. Love the messaging. The whole thing at times feels like a love letter to Philadelphia with tons of cool locations visited along with a description of what you're looking at. The cinematography feels like a doc at times, with a run and gun style that grounds the story and sets it firmly in modern day real life.
Some of this feels so vulnerable. I love that the writer/director has things to say about the state of society and some very current events, but also isn't afraid to point the finger back at his own community and find places we can all improve. For some reason I just really connected with this story and I can't wait to see more from these filmmakers.

BEST acting you will ever see!

This movie is an entertaining drama epic opera with some great action and cinematography that will give you chills. Every so often a movie with a limited budget can go above and beyond its resources to deliver. This is exactly what Boston to Philly is. A film that delivers despite its limitations.
The locations, the actors, the story line, and even the music are all top notch. The team behind this film is gifted. The script is what makes the film a cult classic. The range of story arcs and genres it touches in just 1 hour and 4o mins speaks for itself.
Love this film! Can't say it enough. A must watch.

There is a lot to like about this film. The storyline about connection resonates, the acting is mostly good to great, and I found myself rooting for the main characters to find their place in their world and with one another. A well-done indie film.
