FAQ

There Is Not Currently a Problem

You're the Worst

Not currently. Whether there was one at the time of shooting is unknown.

There ought to be. Podcasters, get on that.

Whilst there is an overlap in the way Dorothy and Vernon behave, Dorothy does not display enough behaviour consistent with anything in the DSM-5 during her limited screentime to believe there is any chronic mental illness or disorder.

She is likely the Straight Normie Arrow that occurs in a number of You're The Worst's scenarios. A character intended to both give an outside perspective of the characters' actions and at the same time represent a normie's typical inability to understand.

Unequivocally, no. Whilst there are mental illnesses in which dishonesty and making things like this up are a feature, Histrionic Personality Disorder makes it more likely to tell the truth about these kinds of events. The strong emotions bound to them would give Jimmy a chance to feel stronger feelings than is normally the case with Histrionic Personality Disorder.

Add to this Episode 2.10 ("A Right Proper Story") and his "family"'s behaviour there, and it is pretty clear that if anything, he is leaving out a lot of things about them. Including possibilities like sexual abuse from his siblings or immediate ancestors, confluent abuse from school and "family", as well as abuse from medical professionals.

(These guesses being based on this author's experiences and the way his symptoms mildly overlap with Jimmy's. Especially the disproportionate emotional reactions.)
