Two Story Lines
Hitchcoc1 November 2016
Things are heating up. Bosch has to spring into action when his family is kidnapped. Of course, the big guy is ticked that they have his henchman in custody and wants to extort Bosch into getting him out of jail. The guy is loyal but both sides are going to nail him. The mob fears he will spill his guts when questioned. The rescue is a bit hard to believe, especially the quick dispatching of things. We are also focusing in one George, who is really getting into it with the bad guys. They are stepping on some really big time tiger tails to ply their trade. It's all about trust and they really don't trust him. Bosch is trying to protect his family. This episode has a little of everything. There is lots of suspense, close calls, and some issues that lead us into the sixth installment.

Strong and eventful episode

Bosch's family get drawn into a dangerous confrontation.

This one includes a very dramatic situation and also an interesting reveal that hints a connection between the two main plot threads that have been unfolding since the season began.

At this point in the show narrative I have warmed to the dynamic and banter between Bosch and Edgar. It has taken a lot to get Jamie Hector's malevolent past role of Marlo Stanfield from 'The Wire' out of my head, but I am finally seeing him as this character.

Similarly Lance Reddick's alter ego of Cedric Daniels is never far from my thoughts when he is on screen, but he is equally as realistic as Irvine and superb in every scene. The plot involving his son is starting to get more compelling.

Titus Weiilver is on great form as always and leads it very well.

Visually it is very good with some tense action sequences.

I really like this show, overall...i just wanted to start this by saying that... i think the characterizations are great...i like the camaraderie... and i like how it's not overly dramatic...i like the light wit...and bosch's taste in jazz, from which i've picked up a few pointers...i'm elaborating here because there's a certain amount of required characters...ridiculous, if there's only really so much to say about something... but the reason part of this episode upset me was the risks bosch seemed to be taking with not involving certain aspects of help that would have been readily available. Made no sense, given the circumstance and people involved.
