"Hitler's Death Squad" is also known as "Une Division SS en France: Das Reich".
The Einsatgruppen were the Nazi "deployment groups" or so-called death squads that operated in conquered territory and whose mission was primarily against civilians. It's estimated that they killed more than 2 million people, with operations in Poland, Russia, and France.
This documentary focuses mostly on the actions of the Waffen SS soldiers in France, particularly around the time that the Allied forces invaded Normandy. It includes some of the most barbaric actions taken by the Nazi death squads, and includes the atrocities of Tulle and Oradour. There is a follow up that reports the actions taken against the perpetrators.
The 90 minute film is written and directed by Michael Prazan. His previous films include Einsatzgruppen (2009) and The Trial of Adolf Eichmann (2011).
This is a must see for anyone interested in World War 2.
