The DMV photographer was supposed to resemble/represent Annie Leibovitz - a world renowned photographer.
The striped pants Ilana wears throughout the episode are nearly identical to the pair worn by a 21-year-old Hillary Clinton when she was featured as a recent Wellesley graduate in a Life magazine photo essay, "The Class of '69", published June 20, 1969.
Hillary Clinton was on such a tight schedule that she could be on set for only 45 minutes to film her appearance. Clinton went to tape an appearance on Hillary Clinton/Samantha Bee/Andrea Bocelli (2015) immediately afterward, and appeared wearing the same clothes.
According to an article on Hillary Clinton's website the set of Clinton's Brooklyn campaign headquarters was "pretty spot on... The 'H' wall featured in last night's episode is a dead ringer for the one at HQ-right down to the Post-its" but noted "the office isn't quite as sleek or spacious as Broad City makes it out to be. At the real HQ, you'll find people working on every available surface. Filing cabinets double as standing desks, and the hallways are pop-up conference rooms".
