During the snowstorm the characters walk to the school (at around 30 minutes) but there is no snow on their hair, hats, or coats.
The group watches a DVD on the car's player while moving. Without significant modification, vehicle DVD in-dash players are specifically designed NOT to play while the vehicle is in motion to not provide a distraction to the driver.
