Interesting concept, lacks execution

The world of Submerge is an interesting concept of death and descent into a netherworld and the struggle to re-emerge. It is an old story, as ancient as the story of Inanna, and Demetri Witherspoon definitely has the vision for the retelling of it as set in the future with modern (2015 CE) Indianapolis, IN, as the backdrop.

Erin Moore, who plays Ni're, brings her character to life and emotes well. She is a talented actress to watch for in the future.

Unfortunately, the sound production was very uneven. I couldn't hear E'thon (the handsome John Walton) speaking for the most part.

The Queen (Shamekia Hunt) is vibrant and King Raz (Bishop Stevens) is forceful, but the Raz role is written as too much of a two-dimensional figure.

Still, overall, the movie is poorly shot, the minor characters lack acting training, and the number of continuity errors (sets, clothing, etc) from scene to scene are way too many for this brief of a movie.

The special effects in "Ni're Reborn" are much improved over what is found in previous videos of Witherspoon's "Chronicles" and "Frozen Land" (also found on the "Ni're Reborn" DVD).

I bought this DVD at a SciFi convention and viewed it at home on a large flatscreen TV. My expectations were not high, and those expectations were met in general. I wouldn't recommend "Ni're Reborn", but I might watch a Demetri Witherspoon movie in the future because I believe his concepts are good and, since he has shown progress, I expect his next project may be worthwhile.
