Diverse Tour of Amazing Sites & High Strangeness With Engaging Host
AudioFileZ5 May 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Ancient aliens are, of course, mentioned frequently as the title portends, but this is a nice travelogue of places around the globe with mysteries that for centuries remain, well, as mysterious as ever. The common thread is the unexplainable - I mean it's a stretch to tie Bigfoot to Puni Puku. That doesn't stop our host from insinuating that as you remove all known possibilities what is left might as well be extraterrestrial in origin.

What makes the show, in my opinion, is the host Giorgio Tsoukalos. Tsoukalos is personable, and if he's not truly invested, and excited, in the possibility of these remarkable places and unexplainable folklore…well, he's got me fooled. It seems his unquenchable thirst for all things alien came before his realization it could also be a payday. As a wild-eyed adventurer seeking answers he comes off as genuinely invested, as well as truly thrilled there's enough other folks willing to listen. So as he goes, literally, around the globe he has a knack for showing us why in all our accumulated knowledge there's plenty we may never be able to know.

In Search of Aliens won't appeal to everyone. However, as proved by Erich von Daniken's (Erich is repeatedly cited by Tsoukalos as his mentor) breakout international best selling chariot books there is ample interest for this stuff. While I can not wrap my head around the largest part of Daniken's and Tsoukalos' conjectures I will simply say this high strangeness world travelogue as hosted by the charismatic Tsoukalos is good enough to keep my sense of awe invested.

Sorta good...mostly not...

Warning: Spoilers
I gotta give Georgio credit, he does love conspiracy theories...but unfortunately, trying to set up a series that directly competes with the wildly successful 'Ancient Aliens' just does not quite cut it...for one thing, Georgio has a big stake in AA and setting up this competitor kinda diminishes the whole concept that everything the human race has ever done is a result of Alien intervention...

Sorry Georgio, this show turned out to be a poor imitation really...

Gre8 for the Adventure

Unlike Ancient Aliens; I feel this is Giorgio Tsoukalos' taking us on a journey of the paranormal.

During the season break from Ancient Aliens this was at least watchable from beginning to end.

I grew up watching "In Search Of"; so the tie ins with Aliens and other myths/legends I like.

The show has interesting episodes and is better than most network programming: NCISSS, CSIII, Quatico, Chicago Fire/PD/Med, Code Black, and etc...

A big thanks to Giorgio Tsoukalos for taking the time to do this.

Very Bizarre
By-TorX-113 July 2015
Warning: Spoilers
For a series about aliens, being bizarre might well be a boon, but the In Search of Aliens title is something of a misnomer as this is simply more Ancient Aliens. Thus, our intrepid searcher, Giorgio Tsoukalos, ends up applying ancient astronaut theories to everything from the Loch Ness Monster to Bigfoot, with neither anomalies seemingly having a great deal to do with aliens. But fear not, as good old Nessie and the Sasquatch are soon linked to alien activity. As such, we get a lot of 'what if Bigfoot is related to the Book of Enoch and the Epic of Gilgamesh?' or 'What if the Loch Ness Monster is a pan-dimensional creature?' but rarely a 'what if they are not, and why on earth would they be?' or, more specifically, a 'why am I even talking about such things as this show is about aliens?' Given that a number of anthropologists give plausible reasons as to how ape-like creatures might exist in the vast American forests, as do archaeologists to explain how monoliths in Malta could easily have been moved by humans, it's a shame that such views are then sidelined in favour of such left-left-left-left of field hypothesising in relation to aliens, and ancient ones at that.

Laughable entertainment

Warning: Spoilers
If you simply want entertainment, then this series can be reasonably amusing. But if you want any kind of actual scientific evidence or discovery, this is not for you.

Virtually every single aspect of every single investigation is almost instantly equated to being alien in origin. It's hilarious. So hilarious that you'd almost think this was a comedy.

The investigations themselves are interesting, but in the end, Giorgio always equates any bit of any shred of any so-called evidence to proof that aliens live among us.

And of course, there's never any credible evidence because, as sane people know, aliens are not living among us.

So with that in mind, go ahead and watch for the entertainment value, but don't expect to see any credible evidence uncovered.
