Orlando Bloom, David Harbour, and Archie Madekwe in Gran Turismo (2023)

Goofs

Gran Turismo

Edit

Continuity

During the Dubai race, the CAPA Lamborghini is shown to collide into the rear of the car, however, in the next shot, the collision is from the side.
There is much discussion about the extreme wind and its role in the crash at Nuremberg however during that scene, there is zero wind/movement to be seen in any of the surrounding trees.

Factual errors

When Jann is racing to qualify for the GT academy, he's part of the European qualification, however, one of the drivers on the webcam is from Canada.
Even though the movie is set in 2011-2012 there are several things that would not have existed back then. Namely his PS5 which came out in 2020, Gran Turismo 7 which came out in 2022, and his big crash at the Nürburgring Nordschleife which took place in 2015.
On the Qualifying to GT Academy Race , the screen says PS5 on the Bottom .
The final corner in the real De La Sarthe circuit is a double chicane (an S shaped corner), while in the movie the final corner is a long hairpin (U shaped corner)
When Jann reaches GamerLand and checks the Qualification message on the PlayStation , the Controller he clicks on to proceed is actually a Dual Sense that was only made for the PS5 .

Revealing mistakes

The story takes place in 2011-2012. When Jann is racing in Vienna, a camera shows the date of filming as November 2022.

Miscellaneous

The number plate on the Volkswagen Corrado is a nonsensical format. There is no obvious reason why this is necessary and the original plate can't be used, or at least one with valid format.
During the European qualification, they state he's just got into 17th place. The 17th placed car was in front of him making him actually 18th.

Anachronisms

During Jann's call with Audrey, Audrey said that she liked many of Jann's Instagram stories. This was not a feature added until 2016, four years after the events in the film take place.
At the first scene, Jann receives a steering wheel, via parcel, which is a 'Universal Hub' mounted to a 'ClubSport Wheel Rim 320'. He installs it on a 'GT DD Pro' wheelbase; all of those are produced by Fanatec. They all were released several years after the setting of the film.

At that time, Jann would had used the '911 Turbo S' (that he used in real life) or the '911 GT3 RS' wheelset.
The Koenigsegg Gemera shown in the movie didn't exist when the movie takes place.
The Porsche 911 992 GT3 RS driven by two movie characters was not unveiled until August 2022, around 10 years after the events depicted in the movie take place.

Errors in geography

The emergency vehicle's sound at Nürburgring, Germany is of a US/UK vehicle.

Plot holes

The film is set in 2011/12.. during the opening speech in Japan to Nissan it's mentioned 'most kids sit in the back of an Uber on their phones'. Uber did not arrive in Japan until 2018 so this line would make zero sense to the Japanese Nissan staff being spoken to.
