Dr. Blakely claims that some of the stars he and Cam are seeing have been dead for billions of years, and are visible only because it takes that long for their light to reach Earth. This is a wild exaggeration. While it isn't easy to determine which star is furthest while also being visible to the naked eye, one candidate is V762 Cas, which is 16,308 light years away. Certainly none are anywhere near a billion light years away.
