Cancelled? That's too bad...the show started off well and appeared to have some really excellent growth-potential. Apparently, along the trail to success, someone took a wrong turn towards failure. It happens...I know.
Some good shows are shockingly canceled causing my jaw to drop and hit the floor. ("The Finder".) "News Flash" for me - I guess everyone else doesn't necessary like the same cup of tea as me. Some good programs know when the time is up and cancel themselves ("The Mentalist".) A smart move - sad - but smart. And then others just don't know when to quit. Their greatness is ancient history and sadly rely solely on life-support (painfully - "Bones").
This show - "Backstrom" - should have had some staying power. It had the pedigree of an outstanding Swedish bestseller, skilled direction and a talented cast. There were plenty of tools for the directors to work with and the rest should have fallen into place. Granted, the writers had to be a difficult task, but that challenge was not insurmountable. I don 't know what happened. The concept of a serious detective show, seasoned with some off-color humor lost out to pratfalls and slap-stick.
I will miss the show...especially the earlier episodes.
