Okay story but too long winded
phd_travel20 July 2020
There is an entertaining and sufficiently different vampire story here. The main flaw is there are too many episodes. It should have been 16 at most. Some of the technical jargon is tiring. Many scenes walking along the corridors talking could have been cut. The dialog is quite well written in parts plus some funny moments are quite unexpected. Ahn Jae Hyun looks like a vampire so he is well cast if he slightly underacts a bit. Better than overacting. His real life soon to be wife Ku Hye Sun is pretty here and her character is suitably feisty. Look out for a bright and cheerful Jung Hae In supporting role. Ji Jin Hee is a memorable villain smiling yet menacing. When he shows his anger it is effective. I liked that the bad guys were trying to do something for mankind if too ruthlessly. Unfortunately the ending isn't satisfactory by any means.

The series is good but the profile picture doesn't fit very well. And the ending is beautiful but it doesn't make much sense.

Kind of a waste of time

I am out of korean dramas, what to do ? so i had to watch this but i really did not like it that much. It was nice to see that some scenes from the first and last episodes were in my country, Romania. Also cute to find out that the main actors are a couple in real life. The ending was very bad.

Good enough

Warning: Spoilers
You'll think that it will be a struggle for a vampire to be a doctor, let alone a sergeant. And yet, in blood, most of the doctors working in the hospital are vampires. Okay, they are not called vampires, but the infected by an uncured various that has similar effects just like a vampire. Out hero is the only infected born with the disease by infected parents, but he wishes to be normal. After a family tragedy, he becomes a doctor living with a genius scientist as they try to live as normal as possible. However, in the new hospital that he works, a chief doctor who's also a vampire and the guy who killed his parents, is trying to experiment on humans in order to find the cure to the illness. Even though its twenty episodes long, the plot don't let the drama get boring and keeps the interest high even till the very end. The blood scenes were a little too much, but bearable, though the romance was mild. The hospital politics and that villain doctor and his plots were very entertaining. However, I really didn't like the ending, as it was confusing, because of the very last scene. So, 6 out of 10.

Oh please!

I have watched several KDramas which cry out of an inconclusive or even sad ending, but spoiled by contrived happy, happy nonsense. It must be a law of some kind. Having said that, some characters are so engaging I yearn for their safety / return / miraculous escape.

Like too many of these shows, they'd be much better with tighter dialogue and fewer episodes.

'Blood', of course, asks us to suspend disbelief but they do a good job confusing the viewer with medical mumbo-jumbo.

The characters are not one-dimensional, indeed there is a fairly good attempt to understand the motives of the evil guys. The acting (as alway) is very good - in a soapy, melodramatic way. And as with almost all KDramas the production is absolutely first class.

But please... the ending??? Was a second series planned but never green-lit?

Not a sappy love story, but a Korean delicacy
Rakamazi11 March 2015
Amazingly good so far. I am quite a fan of Korean TV shows, so I'm speaking out of experience when I say: this is one of the best series ever. Don't get frightened by the fact that the main character is actually a vampire - this story is not like any other vampire-tale. It is not a sappy love story (no examples here, everyone know which one I'm referring to), nor a blood-soaked horror, but definitely not a kid's show. Although you'll get everything in a perfect package, as you'd expect from a good Korean product. ;) The story is very well developed, as are the characters too. The action scenes are enjoyable. Gags are refreshing. Still, more than half of the show is upcoming, so A LOT of things will happen. Romance too. So stay updated, watch "Blood", worry, laugh and let yourself to be entertained by this Korean delicacy.

One of the Korean dramas I love.
XueHuaBingYu21 December 2018
I'm not that much in Korean dramas because I'm not a fan. But this one? I like it very much. It's not exactly a vampire story. It's about a story of a virus that turns the host into a vampire. And it contains love story. What I hate the most is love story. But maybe, the director's representation skills, it doesn't make me feel so boring.

I don't know how many times I've watched this one. Still, I want to watch over and over again. The story line is too good and the performances are great. It's totally worth spending time.

Had Potential... Ultimately a Let Down
fake_moviestar22 April 2021
I have seen a few other vampire k-dramas and this one had potential but ultimately it fell flat.

Here's what it did well: the story was interesting, at least at the beginning. I liked that the vampire lore was rooted in science rather than magic - that was different from almost all vampire shows and movies I have seen and made the show much more interesting. I think the set up was done well too - and the characters were for the most part likeable, especially Hyun-woo the nerdy sidekick who really held the heart of the show in his hands.

Everything else was bad however, which is why my rating is so low.

The villain in this show was too powerful - it made our protagonist seem irrelevant and made me lose interest about 2/3 of the way through. The last 1/3 of the show felt more and more pointless with every episode. And to make matters even worse the ending was very open ended and made the viewer question everything that happened in the last episode with no conclusion or closure at all.

Despite the two leads going on to be a couple in real life who end up getting married (and subsequently divorced), I felt like they had very little chemistry on screen, which is odd considering the real life effects/results of this show.

In addition, perhaps due to the age of the show, some of the special effects were really bad, particularly the "wild dog" scene in one of the very first episodes. The music felt dated as well, and along with some poor pacing and overly dramatic scenes, some parts of the show drifted into soap-opera territory.

All in all I was rather disappointed. This show could have been halfway decent had it been about 4-5 episodes shorter and given a better ending.

interesting
groazamica19 July 2015
I have mixed feelings about this one... I liked the general idea of the story, but as for the actual execution... you have to suspend a lot of disbelief. It was filled with little inconsistencies and illogical actions! I managed to watch the first few episodes before giving it up because I liked the actors, I like most vampires (not named Edward) and because I almost died laughing when I realized it was shot in my country and they were speaking Romanian. The main actor makes a valiant effort to get the words right, but I had to listen 2-3 times to actually understand him:) The female main character is REALLY flawed and by that I mean that you can't help hating her. She believes herself better than anybody and even endangers a patient's life just to prove a point. On the other hand the main male character is a bit too awesome (being a vampire that decided to specialize in surgery and saving people) so they try to bring him "down to Earth" by making him randomly clumsy. It's rather funny and cute.

Short review: if Romanian please watch at least the first episode for pure fun, if not you might want to check it out for the hot main actor playing a sexy vampire (and also check out his other TV shows)

it wasn't bad just long
richlleroberts18 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
It wasn't a necessarily bad show but it was very lengthy. It shoulve been 16 episodes but it's not that deep. Anyways the series was a bit confusing because ji sang is 'always cold' but he bleeds? Doesn't blood pump around your body to keep you warm?? Or im just dumb. There wasn't a intresting plot and everyone just kept dying. Like i didnt see the reason for hyun woo's death, it just kind of happened and i was like oh. You don't get enough time to deep the fact he's dead it's just they die some tears then move on. There was also like one kiss scene for this whole series.. i would recommend this series to someone who has time to waste, it's just forgettable and i'm so happy the whole vampire & human love genre is done with.

Bleeds out half way through
geewhiz4627 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This series had far too many episodes for the story. It starts out well enough. Park Ji-Sang is the son of parents who suffered from some kind of vampirism for which they are trying to find a cure.

Strangers kill his father and his mother takes him as a baby and escapes.

As a young man he saves a young girl from wolves in a forest.

The same strangers track them down and kill his mother Later he becomes a surgeon. He has to take pills provided by his friend. Hyun Woo which depresses his vampiric urges.

He sees some information that lure him and his friend to a certain hospital.

What he doesn't know is that the director of the hospital - Jae Wook - is a powerful vampire who wants to bring him down.

There are some good actors in this - Ji Jin-Hee - Jung Hae-In and Jo Jae Yun. Unfortunately the FL Koo Hye Sun - is dreadful.

Her face is incapable of portraying emotion - she simply grimaces and flounces about and is totally unconvincing as a brilliant doctor.

She seems to have retired from acting - which is a mercy.
