Fire! Fights! Stunts! 2nd Unit Shooting (2014)
*** 1/2 (out of 4)
This twenty-minute featurette is certainly a very interesting one. Andy Armstrong was the second-unit director on Clive Barker's NIGHTBREED and this featurette takes a look at some of the footage he shot. Not only do we get to see the footage but Armstrong talks about what exactly his job is and he explains what type of working relationship he has with the main director on the picture. I watch as many of these Scream Factory featurettes that I can and I must admit that this here was a very interesting one. I think a lot of people just assume that the main director is there at every turn of filmmaking yet this featurette shows you what other unit directors do. Not only that but it was fascinating getting to hear what type of relationship the second unit has to have with the main director and there are some nice bits of information about matching up footage.
