Sadly, the massacre of Robin's family was not first blood for this killer; the previous day he had murdered two people in a similar crime in his home state. It didn't take long for the finger of suspicion to be pointed at Levi King for the murder of the elderly Orlie McCool and his daughter-in-law at Pineville, Missouri. He was arrested at El Paso, and confessed freely to that double murder, although he was unable to explain coherently why he had committed it. Later, he confessed to an unsuspecting law officer "You know, there's four more in Texas".
King took a plea in Missouri then pleaded guilty to the home invasion triple murder, but there was no way a DA in Texas would ever waive the death penalty in a murder case of this magnitude, so there had to be a trial. Incredibly, it is the DA who sheds tears in this documentary rather than the young woman who had to confront in a courtroom the man who snuffed out her family. Perhaps unexpectedly, the jury did not sentence King to death; one juror held out, and this was enough for him to be sentenced to life without parole.
