Godzilla in Shin Godzilla (2016)

Goofs

Shin Godzilla

Edit

Continuity

Godzilla's color changes slightly throughout his first attack.

Revealing mistakes

Near the end of the fully grown Godzilla's rampage in Tokyo, he quickly whips his body to the left. His head doesn't turn left, it keeps facing forward, but the beam being fired from his mouth continues moving to the left independently of his head.

Miscellaneous

In various scenes, the attack helicopters are flying with empty weapon banks. This happens for example at about min 53. The usually unguided missile banks are clearly empty and the air-to-air rocket banks are at least half empty. But only a few minutes later, at about min. 55 every helicopter is fully armed with all rockets.

Plot holes

The drug that the government uses to kill Godzilla is described as something that will "disable his internal cooling system". After the drug is used at the end, Godzilla freezes. If the drug was supposed to disable his internal cooling system, it would have overheated him, not frozen him. But it's a bit more complex than that... In fact, in the movie the drug actually does manage to disable Godzilla's cooling system, but in stead of overheating him this triggers a SCRAM-shutdown (=Safety Control Rods Activation Mechanism) as a kind of involuntarily overreaction-thus freezing him in the procedure. By freezing himself temporarily, Godzilla is able to survive this potentially critical trauma.
At the end of the movie, buildings around Gojira are demolished to make the monster fall. But since Gojira has just been firing the beans in all directions, no building could remain so close.

Character error

Kayoko Ann Patterson (Satori Ishihara) is supposed to be a Japanese-American, and assumed to be a native speaker of English, but her English dialog is obviously a foreign language to her.
