Based on a short story written by Martin Markovits about his real life experience in his senior year of high school.
During the summer of 1999, writers Matt Weinglass and Martin Markovits worked together for several days and nights on end to develop this short story into a full-length play that was to be produced under the label of Weinglass's theatre company, The Sherwood Players. Ultimately, the project was scraped and then re-written into a screenplay.
This is the first feature film to be produced by The Sherwood Players who up until then they were only known for producing contemporary theatre and short films.
Although the story takes place on the campus of UCSB in Santa Barbara, CA, most of the dorm room scenes and outside night scenes were shot around UCLA due to the majority of the cast being Los Angeles based.
The original theatrical version was screened at The Sherwood Players 2000 Film Festival in June of 2000 along with two other films including "Is it Real" by then first time director Red-Foo of the musical group LMFAO.
