Second part comes in second place.
After the first part of the film set up a rather gentle and vague world which reflected some aspects of life in rural Thailand, the second part lurches into a more musical angle.
The subtitle here is The Food of Love and this refers to the music and dancing that starts at a party the locals hold with dancing girls through a monk's initiation ceremony and the party that follows it, again with some risqué dancing and bizarre camera-work. This appears to be a deliberate change of pace and does speed things up although it could have been shorter in places.
I suspect the two films were meant to be watched as one and it may have been padded out to make two feature length films so the cultural events might have not been squeezed together so much originally.
It ends nicely and again nice visual touches and humour keep it satisfying enough so its not a major disappointment but I preferred part one.
OK so where's the other films in this series?
