- Arjun kills Susarma the Trigartha Chief and returns to the Pandava camp. He learns about Abhimanyu's death and discovers that Jayadhrath was the main cause of his son's death. Arjun vows to kill Jayadhrath before sunset the next day.
- Drona and Karna were party to Abhimanyu's death. With Abhimanyu's death the rules set by Bhishma are broken for the first time and they are broken by the Kauravas first. Dhritarashtra knows that with Abhimanyu's death, the path to peace is closed forever.
Arjun kills Susarma the Trigartha Chief and returns to the Pandavas camp. It is already past sun-set. Arjun is curious to understand why Abhimanyu did not come with his brothers to greet Krishna. Arjun asks a soldier to tell him what happened in battle that day. The soldier says that Drona launched the Chakra-Vyuh. Only Arjun and Krishna knew how to break the vyuh. He is relieved to know that Yudhishthir has not been captured in battle (Since their flag is still flying over their camp), but. Arjun is further distressed to know that Abhimanyu attacked the Chakra-Vyuh even though he did not know how to exit it. He learns about Abhimanyu's death. Arjun is inconsolable.
Arjun discovers that Jayadhrath was the main cause of his son's death. Bheem says that Jayadhrath alone stopped the entire Pandavas army from entering the vyuh to help Abhimanyu Krishna says that after being humiliated by Pandavas (for abducting Draupadi), Jayadhrath prayed to Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva blessed him that for one day Jayadhrath would be victorious against 4 Pandav brothers, except Arjun. Uttara is besides herself in grief and is heavily preggers.
Arjun vows to kill Jayadhrath before sunset the next day or burn himself to death. Kauravas come to Abhimanyu's funeral. Drona consoles Arjun that Abhimanyu fought bravely, and he was the only one who stood between Drona and Yudhishthir. Abhimanyu inflicted battle wounds on all Kaurav warriors and none of them had answers to his attacks. One by one all the Kauravas pay their respects to Abhimanyu's dead body on the funeral pyre. Karna also prays to Abhimanyu and offers condolences & respects to his parents. Arjun doesn't allow Jayadhrath to offer his prayers to Abhimanyu and publicly announces his vow. Arjun says that Jayadhrath once a slave to the Pandavas, whom Yudhishthir freed from slavery and today the same Jayadhrath is the cause of Abhimanyu's death in battle.
Drona knows that his army broke the rules to kill Abhimanyu. Drona promises security to Jayadhrath from Arjun. Drona says that he is the commander of the Kauravas army and protecting Jayadhrath is his foremost duty. Shakuni knows that Jayadhrath's father was a sage. Jayadhrath wanted the boon of his control over his own death like Bhishma. But Jayadhrath's father said that neither is Jayadhrath equal to Bhishma, not is he equal to Shantanu to grant that boon. So, Jayadhrath's father gave him a boon that the person who is responsible for Jayadhrath's dead head to fall on the ground, will die on the spot himself/herself due to an explosion in their head. So, either way, Arjun is dead. If Arjun doesn't kill Jayadhrath, he will commit suicide, and even if he kills Jayadhrath, he will die when Jayadhrath's head hits the ground. Duryodhan convinces Jayadhrath to stay in the battlefield and hide behind the Kauravas army.
