Plot

All the warriors except Balaram and Rukhmi (Rukmani's brother) move towards the battlefield. Balaram remains neutral and both parties deny Rukhmi's help. Duryodhan tricks Salya into joining the Kaurava army.

All the warriors except Balaram and Rukmi (Rukmani's brother) move towards the battlefield. Balaram remains neutral and both parties deny Rukhmi's help. Massive armies from both sides head towards the battlefield of Kurukshetra. History has never witnessed a gathering of a such a large number and stature of distinguished visitors. Satyaki leads the Yadav army. Satyaki fights for the Pandavas, while his army goes to join the Kauravas camp. Virat and his son Uttar bring the Matsya country army. Jarasandh and Chedi King Shishupal's armies both come to fight for the Pandavas. Draupadi's 5 sons and Abhimanyu arrive for battle as well. Arjun arrives with Krishna as his charioteer. Kauravas army includes Bhishma, Duryodhan, Drona, Kripa, Jayadrath, Karna, Kritvarma leads the Yadav army under Duryodhan's flag, Ashwathama, Shakuni, Dushana and many more. This is the war for truth and justice.

Duryodhan tricks Madra king Shalya (Kapil Kumar) (Madri's brother) into joining the Kaurava army. Shalya king is coming towards Kurukshetra to fight for Pandavas (Yudhishthir had no knowledge that Shalya was on his way to fight in the war in their camp) and stays in some tents along the way, which he assumes belong to the Yudhishthir camp. Shalya is very happy with the treatment accorded to him and his army. Shalya is maternal uncle (mama) to both Yudhishthir and Duryodhan. Shakuni knows that if Duryodhan manages to get Shalya in their camp, the Pandavas will be shamed publicly and it will be difficult for their to explain this to their troops and commanders.

But later, Shalya realizes that those camps belong to Duryodhan, when Duryodhan comes to greet Shalya and informs him that he has been staying in the Kaurava camps since he started his journey towards Kurukshetra. Now Shalya is in Duryodhan's debt as he has accepted Duryodhan's hospitality and wants Duryodhan to seek a blessing. Duryodhan asks him to fight under his flag as his commander in chief. Shalya says that he cannot be Commander of the army in front of Bhishma and so Shalya becomes Karna's charioteer upon Karna's request. Karna says that he needs a charioteer equal to Krishna who will be guiding Arjun. Shalya agrees since Karna has the courage to put the reins of his chariot in the hands of an enemy warrior but is clear that his blessings are with the Pandavas. Shalya tells Yudhishthir that his blessing is still with the Pandavas, but now he is committed to fight under Duryodhan's flag. Nakul and Sahdev are angry with Shalya as Kunti has always made sure that Nakul and Sahdev are protected first in every calamity. Sahdev feels that Shalya's actions have made them step-brothers to Kunti's sons for the first time.

Drona and Kripa are concerned since the battle between Arjun and Karna will change complete when Shalya is Karna's charioteer. He is second only to Krishna.

Kunti comes to meet Gandhari. Gandhari is unhappy that Shakuni and Karna encourage Duryodhan to war against the Pandavas. Both mothers discuss and agree that both wont give victory blessing to either of their sons. Gandhari also tells Kunti not to curse the Kauravas. Gandhari wants to seek Krishna's help in protecting her sons, but Dhritarashtra stops her.
