- Bhisma action for restoring the image of Hastinapur will lead to his death.
- Shantanu dies after he has 2 sons from Satyavati. Bhishma crowns Chitrangad as the next King. First Chitrangad ascends the throne. But he dies in battle. Shantanu's son Vichitravirya (Sudesh Berry) ascends the throne. Satyawati asks Bhishma to get Vichitravirya married to get a heir to the throne. Bhishma wants Kashi princesses Amba (Jahnavi), Ambika and Ambalika to marry Vichitravirya. Kashi King conducts a swayamvar for his daughters but doesn't invite Hastinapur to the event. This is coz King Shantanu did not get Devarata married to Kashi's King's sister. So, he got insulted and wants revenge.
Kashi's Prime Minister is afraid that Bhishma will not take this insult lightly and might attack the Kingdom. His solution was to invite the Hastinapur King, and then rebuff him by not having any of girls chose him as their groom. Whom the girls chose is in their hands. This way Kashi's insult will be avenged and Bhishma also wont have any valid reason to attack Kashi. But the King is adamant that he wants to insult Hastinapur publicly. The King insists that the warriors don't worry about politics and protocol. They worry about pride and prestige. No invite is extended. Kashi does not want to have Hastinapur as their guest at any cost. The Prime Minister still says that politics says that an insult should be repaid with friendship.
When Bhishma finds out (the whole Hastipanur court is talking about the slight to the Kingdom by the King of Kashi), he is livid. Bhishma takes permission from Satyavati and leaves for Kashi. Satyavati wanted Bhishma to ignore the Kashi princesses, but Bhishma is adamant that if they take this insult without action, they will lose their prestige amongst other Kingdoms. He vows to bring all the 3 princesses back to Hastinapur to wed Vichitravirya
Bhishma arrives in Kashi King's court. This court is where Bhishma's death story is started to be written. Bhishma announces that he is representing the King of Hastinapur in the Kashi court. Bhishma abducts the 3 princesses from the middle of their swayamvar, in the name of his King Vichitravirya. He defeats all the Kings and Princes who were in attendance at the swayamvar. None had the courage to face Bhishma's arrows. Shalva King (who loves Amba) tries to stop Bhishma, but Bhishma humiliates him again in battle. Bhishma imprisons Shalva in a cage made up of arrows. But he refuses to kill Shalva as Bhishma himself had spared his life a few yrs ago. Bhishma cannot take a life that he granted as a gift. He ignores please by Shalva to kill him.
Amba appeals to Satyavati that she loves another man (the Shalva King) & that she should be delivered to him. Bhishma is entrusted to take Amba back to her desired prince Shalva. Shalva Kumar refuses to accept her as Bhishma had defeated all princes to abduct the princesses. Amba now belongs to Bhishma. Amba is furious & demands that Bhishma should marry her, but Bhishma refuses due to his oath. Amba leaves vowing revenge on Bhishma and to never forgive him for her insult, even if she has to take several rebirths to avenge herself. She vows to be Bhishma's cause of death.
Bhishma arranges the marriage of Ambika (Meena Chakraborty) and Ambalika (Menaka Babbar), to King Vichitravirya. However, Vichitravirya dies young and without any offspring.
