Jane Levy in Don't Breathe (2016)

Goofs

Don't Breathe

Edit

Continuity

While inside the car, Rocky's pants do not show any hole or slit after it had been cut open by The Blind Man earlier.
Rocky takes off her shoes when entering the house and walks around on her socks for the remaining time. However, in several (running) shots she's clearly wearing shoes again.
About halfway through, The Blind Man has a large blood stain on his shirt which disappears shortly after for the rest of the movie.
Even though The Blind Man switches off the main switch in the basement, some time later Alex can turn on the dryer in a struggle to distract him.
Towards the end, when the dog has jumped on the car's hood, the red bag that was supposed to be lying next to the car is missing and reappears later.

Factual errors

Incorrectly regarded as goofs

Revealing mistakes

When the window to the house is opened, the alarm counts down with a 30-second delay. Delays are restricted to normal home entries. The open window should have triggered the alarm immediately.
Gunfire in an enclosed space is exceptionally loud. So loud that it can permanently damage hearing and will result in temporary hearing loss. Despite this, multiple rounds are fired and yet even a blind character who is shown to be dependent upon his hearing is unaffected by the sounds.
Towards the end of the film, a character fires a shot which hits a framed photograph. The picture falls away, revealing no damage to the wall behind it. It's safe to assume that the bullet would not have lodged in the photograph.
When The Blind Man fires the Beretta point blank at Alex's head towards the end of the movie, it clicks because he's out of ammo. However, when a semi-automatic pistol fires its last round, the slide does not go forward but locks back, so the empty magazine can be released and a full magazine can be placed in the magazine well. After that is done, the slide is pulled back a bit and then let go; this action chambers a new round.
When Rocky is removing the cash from the safe, the cash straps are blue. American Bankers Association blue straps are for $1 bills in increments of 100 ($100). She is shown removing 8 stacks, and the only clearly visible stack contains 7 straps. That's $5,600.

Errors in geography

The movie is set in Michigan, but in an overhead shot a large sign advertising the New York Lottery can be seen on the side of a building.
In the research newspaper article the car accident perpetrator's family is from Grosse Point, which doesn't exist. The group of towns on the East side of Detroit is Grosse Pointe with an E.

Plot holes

Based on the trio's habit of leaving DNA traces all around the houses they break into, like Rocky leaving her hair behind in the beginning of the movie (lying on the bed, etc.), they should have been caught by the police by the time they break into The Blind Man's house.
After escaping from the blind veteran's home, Rocky has to run a considerable distance to reach the escape vehicle left behind by her and her two friends. It made no sense for the three not to park their vehicle on the deserted street where the blind veteran resided in order to make a quick getaway.
It is not clear how the blind veteran was able to abduct Cindy, the young woman who killed his daughter in a hit and run accident, and take her to his house. Moreover, since he clearly bore ill feelings towards Cindy, the police would certainly have viewed him as a suspect after her disappearance, suspecting he had help in seizing her, and searched his house from top to bottom.
It seems very unlikely that The Blind Man, who is shown to be very aware of his surroundings despite his condition, would miss Alex with the garden shears and instead impale Money.
Despite being blind, the veteran is able to chase after Rocky a considerable distance after she runs out of his house, grab her as she stands outside of the getaway car in an deserted industrial street, and then drag her back all the way to his house.
