- A driven perfectionist suffers a career crisis and against her husband's wishes, she unconventionally goes on a filmmaking quest with unique mentors that help her resolve a refugee past in order to forge a new future.
- Berni is a married 40-year old mother who thought she was living the American Dream as a successful bank executive. She leaves the 20-year career when she encounters a hostile and harassing work environment resulting in multiple miscarriages. Disillusioned by the emptiness of what she thought was the right path; Berni is drawn to pursue a childhood dream of filmmaking. Without the security of a steady paycheck, no corporate benefits and increasing debt, Berni's husband is unhappy about the financial implications but reluctantly concedes. Synchronously, she is invited to join a group of North American speakers for a spirituality conference in India. Berni defies logic in a down economy to film a documentary in a country she's never stepped foot in. Berni's decision to go to India seems destined as planning falls into place. However, after arriving in India, she quickly finds that expectations for the conference are not met and the production seems to be falling apart. Having risked time and money taking this leap of faith, Berni is on the verge of a meltdown. The conference concludes and the intimate group begins the tour of India when the film unexpectedly turns its focus from the spiritual teachers to following Berni's journey of transformation.—Bernadette Slowey
