Didn't think they could pull this off..

Your humble scribe is a purist, which means that I don't check the Neilsons or the Social Media before doing a review.

That said, I don't know how this show is doing rating-wise. Initially I thought it would be a tough sell. Much of the fun of the show is the "nostalgia" but by definition nostalgia is only fun if you actually remember it. (Trekkies will spot the logic-loop in that) In fact, I do. I remember the songs and the AutoMat and the cars and that puts me in the target demographic.

Do younger people get the show? I wonder. I will say that they have done just about everything they could possibly do to keep true to their vision. Somebody really thought this out.

This show is fairly unique and has NOTHING in common, production wise, with SHIELD, or POI, or Banshee or Justified or even for that matter SUITS.

It is in a class of one. Props.

Hayley Atwell remains a gem. She is not only the star but the "glue." Every series has a "glue" that holds the attention of the viewer and provides point of view. Take away the glue and interest wanes. The glue and the star are not always one and the same, but when it happens it's magic. (Which by coincidence is one of the songs of the era) As I said in my other reviews, Marvel remains an internally conflicted company, all sweetness and superhero-y on the outside, but inside driven by an insatiable lust to monetize ever character, sub-character and sub-sub-character in the Archive. One day there will be a show about Spiderman's periodontist.

But as for the here and now-- Love the show. Hope it lasts.

Women are often overlooked, taken for granted

We are getting closer to the finish line, and Leviathan gave us another detour. I sort of suspected Ivchenko was with Leviathan. It was sort of coincidental when the typewriter sent a message to the SSR luring them to Russia, even though they must have known it was found.

I did love the larger focus on Dottie as it shows both her innocent facade and dangerous, terrifying self. She is one truly great villain. And that plays well against Atwell's heroic performance.

I did like the action in this episode especially in the automat with the accompanying music. The action in this series as a whole is great but it was intriguing to watch Carter and Jarvis take on some agents.

Angie was awesome too, using her acting chops to fool the agents in order to help Peggy. Just that scene is hilarious because it makes it so awkward for Thompson and Sousa that they have to leave.

I am now glad that both Carter and the rest of the SSR are at the same stage of the investigation, not necessarily the same side though. I did find it annoying the use of Yauch. Sure, he wasn't really important or focused on in any episode, just sort of there. But the sudden focus on him in this episode and his death was sort of odd. I understand the need for him to let Ivchenko progress with his plans it was just odd that Yauch had no development before this and yet had a significant amount of screen time before being thrown under the bus. *wink wink*

+ Contrast between Dottie and Carter + Automat action + Fonseca's Angie - Ivchenko working for Leviathan didn't surprise me - Use of Yauch

Final Score: 8.4

Cute Broad When She's Not Punching Me In the Face

So as we enter the home stretch of Agent Carter, Peggy has found herself in quite the pickle. I'm pretty sure she will be redeemed somehow by season's end, but how that unravels will be why I will continue to watch week after week. This week we got a deeper look into Dottie, the other Black Widow, and just how far this Leviathan plan runs. Dr Ivchenko is clearly not who he says he is, and evidently working with Dottie. There was a lot to like about this weeks episode, but also a lot of unanswered questions.

Peggy reluctantly worked with Jarvis again, after a few weeks ending. Now that Peggy is under arrest, one figures Jarvis will join her shortly. But it's also clear that the SSR needs Peggy to take down the ultimate goal. The last two episodes are sure to be entertaining as Peggy attempts to regain their trust and prevail as the bada** hero we know she is.

+Peggy & Jarvis again

+The Dr.'s turn

+Evil Black Widow

Talk fast before they're fooled beyond hope

Intense and well-written in episode 6 with actual realistic storylines and more than good acting. The outcomes are not always what I expect, among others, they shouldn't be fooled like that.
