- To teach the tough hunter, Proudest Cloud, a lesson in respect, Dreaming Bear, Yakari's friend, has to undergo the trial of the red arrow. Once, he used to be a tracker; however, will he be able to find the small arrow without any help?
- Yakari is shocked when one of his warrior friends, an old men who often wonders trough the forest and won the animals' confidence, endangers a village hunter to protect an elk. The tribal council has no other option then apply Sioux law, when the vindictive victim insists on a rarely applied punishment; the red Arrow Arrow. The culprit remains banished until he can find and retrieve a red Arrow which is shot far by his victim, who makes sure it's opposed to the sun, so nobody sees the direction. - Dreaming Bear, Yakari's elderly friend, recounts fascinating stories in the middle of the forest, when all of a sudden, the tough hunter, Proudest Cloud, almost runs over Yakari while chasing a wild moose. Then, much to everyone's surprise, the otherwise kind man commits a serious crime in the eyes of the tribe--a deed punishable by the test of the red arrow.
