Uncomfortably Touching
dlongua-124 March 2015
The racist banter was initially uncomfortable and difficult to hear, but the heartwarming storyline ultimately had me in tears.

The Sac Fly was beautifully shot and edited. The performances were convincing and compelling. It was refreshing that one race wasn't being singled out for the racial tensions...and both sides were being held accountable.

The story of the sacrifice of one for another and the homage to baseball was a brilliant tie- in.

Deep Williams is a compassionate Director, creating heartfelt stories with beautiful lessons. He is one to watch.

A heart felt eye opener
kenroc_says4 April 2015
This film was heart felt and helps open a door to the viewers having a conversation that many avoid. I loved the creative way Deep Williams taps into the child with in each of us which originally had an untainted view of life. Also the use of a handicap character to help give the viewers a different paradigm which reaches beyond racial division but into the heart to say sacrifice and caring should have no limitations. The storyline regarding to difference in the two generations of men shows the progress that has been made but at the same time the work that still needs to be done in the area of racism. This film can be a great tool of discussion in our local schools and churches alike to help eliminate remaining walls of segregation in our thinking.. The timing of this film is fantastic! I loved it and look forward to seeing it again and inviting more friends.

Great film

What a great short film that keeps you so involved and it seems like a two hour feature film. This is a film about real life and real feelings. This film have have some type of strong impact on your life regardless of you social views. Very well filmed and I loved the way this film was presented, the style makes you stay focused on the subject at hand. I guarantee this film WILL IMPACT how you see life and life's stereotypes. When you go to a movie theater you don't expect your life to change on the way out. But this film is so well done, it had me double checking my beliefs and humanity. Baseball, apple pie and bigotry.... Deep Williams hit it out of the park on this piece!

Touching, irritating, and sadly relevant
julsfoley19 April 2015
I'll start with saying that I liked it. I really did. It was touching, irritating, and sadly relevant.

To echo Deb Longua's review, the racist banter was indeed uncomfortable and jarring, perhaps because I still hear it sometimes and wish I didn't. It was a bit heavy-handed at first, but was thankfully balanced out by the comments and actions of the nephew and the son of both shop owners.

I felt that the overall message makes it clear that we're all in this together; we all play a part. It's not just a black issue or a white issue: it's a people issue. It's shades of gray. And just like the baseball reference, what we do should be for the good of the team.

Well done, Mr. Williams. Well done, cast.

Not a review ... an observation.
thomasfevans16 April 2015
Being a part of this project, a review of it would be very one sided and definitely not objective. While I could easily say it was the script that brought me to wanting to be a part of this project I would be ignoring the fact that I know Deep Williams and his work. Whatever the script might be I would have said yes, because I know Deep and I know his passion. And because I know him, I call him my friend. So, instead of a review (it's an amazing piece) I will share an observation: This is the second project that I have worked on with Deep Williams. He is a man with a vision and clear focus, he has a mission to share a message, many messages, with us all. To be enlightened and to learn from him all we need to do is watch and listen, and then carry that message on our own paths. If you can do that, you will help make this world a better place. ~ peace, TFE
