The show started airing before the animated segments for most episodes were done. Because of this, only the first three episodes were fully completed in time, and after they aired the show was canceled. The rest of season 1 was never finished even though most of the live action puppet segments were already filmed. The workprint versions of some of these unfinished episodes were later available for viewing through various means but never officially released.
Aired with Muppet Babies (1984) in an hour-long block called "Jim Henson's Muppets, Babies, and Monsters", Muppet Babies would eventually occupy the entire block after "Little Muppet Monsters" cancellation.
The titles of the ten unreleased episodes are "Hi, Mars", "Monster Measles", "Gonzo's Talent Hunt", "Can't Stop the Music", "Boo Monster Ace Reporter", "Feels Like Rain", "Foo-Foo Phooey", "Penguin for a Day", "Gunko" and "Mail-Order Guest."
