The final, and somewhat maudlin, installment.

The final episode of the Ken Burns series "The Roosevelts" is an awfully maudlin and depressing one---and that's to be expected. After all, Franklin was gravely ill late in the war and had congestive heart failure--so it was only a matter of time before he died. Additionally, when it picks up with Eleanor and her life post-Franklin, it's also sad because she is an old lady and you know the show must end with her death. Among the topics covered in addition were Franklin's clandestine meetings with his mistress, Lucy, his telling her about D- Day BEFORE it occurred (this seems treasonous when you think about it, though the show just glossed over it), Eleanor's work with forming the UN and their declaration of rights as well as her political involvements in the 1953, 56 and 60 political races. Overall, about as well done as previous installments and a heck of a good mini-series.
