Excellent drame de moeurs.

The quality of the film is held on several pillars: a brilliant intrigue lit by a clever direction, a rich scenario, intelligence in the dialogues, outstanding performances from actors of various generations and an extraordinary natural setting served by a precise cinematographer.

Maybe we can blame Sophie Deraspe fifth feature film on its moralizing which, admittedly, seems to belong to another time. But considering that the film surprisingly does not bias the way we think it could, it keeps its distance from the heaviness of Pierre Falardeau's film, for example. The cleverness of the plot softens the harshness of the seal's defense discourse.

A surprising end (topped with the excellent and melancholical "Ocean of Noise" by Arcade Fire) particularly strengthens the idea that we're facing a great movie, a movie that dares to avoid clichés and stereotyped relationships, quick and superficial exits, and that comes to point at a time when many political decisions of economic order will further isolate remote areas.

This pack of "wolves", masterfully conducted by Gilbert Sicotte irresistible charisma and his she-wolf, Louise Portal, rock solid, will make you experience a waltz excitement to the rhythm of the waves that strikes the coast of Grande-Entrée and Grosse Île, at Îles-de-la-Madeleine.

Congratulations to the entire team.
