A simple act of compassion that sets off a series of events destined to bring back a past for Victor he has fought desperately to get away from. A road trip journey through the city of Angels that reminds us that it only takes one night to change our lives forever.—Anonymous
- Victor Soledad drives a really large limo. He has been in prison, which limits his opportunities. Still, he makes a real effort to be nice to people and do his job professionally, even if sometimes people aren't nice to him.
Victor drives a bunch of rowdy drunk teenagers who treat Victor like dirt, but he remains professional.
Later, Victor goes to a place where he meets some friends, and a waitress tries to set him up with a pretty girl, but he's not interested. The first place is apparently a word not allowed on broadcast TV because the sign cannot be seen on TV. The second place is A Mi Hacienda, whose sign is clearly seen.
Victor wakes up and makes breakfast. Several times, evidence of his Christian faith is shown. But he can curse and drink like everyone else. At one point he does make a statement that suggest he is confident of what will happen to him when he dies, and he is not worried. He has numerous tattoos, one of a cross.
Now the main plot begins. It is prom night for Raquel. She looks beautiful. And she is so sweet. Mostly. She too curses at times, though. Preston, her date, has not shown up, so Victor takes Raquel to his house. Things do not go well, but soon Preston is in the car and the two are having a good time.
For a while. Then things go very, very badly.
Raquel needs comforting and Victor takes her to A Mi Hacienda. Ernesto accuses Victor of having a young girlfriend and congratulates him in a crude way. Victor asks him and everyone else to treat her nice. Why he would take a nice young girl to a place like that the viewer must wonder, and something upsets Raquel a lot. But the experience is mostly positive. A man with Schwarznegger's muscles and a woman dance in the style of strippers, but they're not wearing much to begin with. And there is also conventional dancing between couples.
Meanwhile, Preston and his brother, and the brother's Paris Hilton type girlfriend, want justice. Preston was bad? His brother is worse. And the brother points out they are rich and won't go to jail. At one point it was mentioned they have a Lamborghini.
All of this results in a powerful scene that teaches some important lessons.
And has there been a prom night yet? There will be. Two, in fact. Three, if you count the number of couples, though one couple has two different prom-type experiences. One is a magical night at a skating rink with Victor and Raquel.
But Victor will face consequences for his actions at the end, even as Raquel protests.
