- In 1968, Claire attends a wake with her daughter; in 1746, the battle of Culloden Moor is looming.
- Flashing forward to 1968, Claire travels to Scotland with her twenty-year-old daughter, Brianna, and meets Roger Wakefield. Claire visits Lallybroch and Culloden Moor to make peace with the past, while Brianna and Roger bond over researching Randall family history. Claire finally reveals the truth to Brianna about her time travel through the stones, her life in 1700's Scotland, and Brianna's true parentage. The story is inter-cut with another one back in the 18th century, which happens on the day of the Battle of Culloden. When Jamie's last ditch attempts to deter The Prince fail, he and Claire come up with a dangerous plan - which Dougal overhears, inciting him to a murderous rage. Jamie must do everything he can to save the ones he loves, even if it means saying goodbye to some-or all-of them.—Sai
- In the late 1960s Claire and her daughter by Jamie, Brianna, attend her friend Reverend Wakefield's funeral, meeting his adopted son Roger. The young man tells her that he is descended from MacKenzies who died at Culloden, and Claire recalls how Jamie killed Dougal in a fight on the eve of the battle when Dougal thwarted Jamie's and Claire's attempt to poison Stuart and stop the carnage. Afterward Jamie sent his men to safety and Claire back through the stone before riding to fight at Culloden. Roger and Brianna look through the reverend's papers and discover Claire's time-travel secret, which she then explains to them, including Brianna's paternity, earning her daughter's disbelieving scorn. However, a meeting with Scottish Nationalist Jillian, whom Claire knew as Geillis in the eighteenth century, confirms Claire's story. Mother and daughter are reconciled, and then Roger gives Claire astonishing news.—don @ minifie-1
