Kudos to the NYC medical examiners who never quit or giving up hope to the victims families who lost love ones on 9/11. Although all efforts have been exhausted, the search to identify all the remains will continue.

Brought me to tears.

For those of us from the NYC and suburban area in 2001, many of us were affected directly. While gratefully not loosing any family members that day, but having spent time on the forensic recovery collecting what remains we could find, this documentary provided a glimpse at the efforts, and very personal commitment all those involved brought to an effort to serve and to bring what little peace or closure we could do for the families of those lost.

The Last Secrets of 9/11 (2014)

*** (out of 4)

There have been countless documentaries done about 9/11. Some just discussing the events and timeline of that day. Others taking a look at the men behind the attack. Much more have been done on various conspiracy theories that are out there. This one here is a rather interesting one because it deals with the people who died that day and how DNA over the years is being used to identify the body parts found at the scene.

I must admit that I found this to be an extremely interesting documentary because we got to see where scientific abilities were in 2001 and how over the years it has improved to the point where more and more families are getting parts of their loved ones returned.

The documentary features interviews with several people who are still awaiting word on their loved ones and it's fascianting to hear from them as they discuss the importance of having something to bury. These interviews are still quite emotional even after all of these years and especially one father who got to bury his son (a firefighter killed at the scene).

These 9/11 documentaries are never pleasant to watch due to how sad they are but this one here was a unique look at the science behind identifying the bodies.
