The H-D Electra Glide Ultra that John rides from NY to the west coast is not the same as the motorcycle on which he departed from Sturgis. The first bike was turquoise with a standard windshield and no luggage rack. The second bike was green with a shorty (tinted) windscreen and a luggage rack on the Tour Pak. When he arrives home he is riding the original bike.
(at 1:07:45) In the shot of the three men riding down the highway, situated right between shots of the Golden Gate Bridge and the motel, you can see the California Highway Patrol behind them running a break to keep traffic back.
