- Lucimara, along with and her daughter, awaits anxiously the return of her husband, João Amorim, to their home town of Lages, Brazil. One day, he finally comes back home, but their happiness is cut short when a gang of men sent to kill Amorim crashes through their door. After a brief fight, Amorim is shot in the stomach and falls by the sofa. Lucimara starts crying, but is violently grabbed by Mortari, the men leading the gang, who claims to be her owner now. She refuses to be taken by force, and Mortari orders Santana to end her. Shortly thereafter, a siren is heard and the men try to escape. Santana then spots Amorim's daughter, who pleads not to be killed, but he tells her that he doesn't kill children. The police arrives at the scene of the crime just to discover that Amorim has survived and calls for an ambulance.
Three months later, Amorim pays a visit to the mayor, who have recently been violently beaten by the same gang. Meanwhile, the police investigates another similar case that happened to a local man. Amorim then meets with his daughter and they both go have a traditional Brazilian barbecue with some friends. In the following night, Amorim goes to have a drink at Thiuka's, where he is approached by some old friends. One of them tells the others that, after Lucimara's death, Amorim fell in love with another woman, who shortly after abandoned him in favor of another man, and now all Amorim wants is to get drunk. Amorim tells them that he is feeling very sad and wants to sing about it, so he orders another drink and starts singing "Whisky without Ice". After finishing the song, the evil men arrive at Thiuka's, this time accompanied by Godói, the man behind all the murders. Amorim and Godói confront each other until a gunfight starts and another man is killed.
In the day after, Godói reunites his men to ensure that their goal is to kill Amorim. One of them is a guy that is actually friends with Amorim and is working as a double agent. The police then arrives at Godói's house while Mortari goes after Amorim. Mortari sneaks on Amorim and threats to kill him, but a pair of policemen arrive in time to kill Mortari first. The policemen ask Amorim to stay out of the case, but Amorim is confident on his desire for revenge. Godói and Santana then go after the double agent and finish him off.
Sometime later, Amorim's daughter starts dating Santana, not realizing he is the man that killed her mother. She introduces him to her father, who gets the impression that he already know Santana from somewhere, but assumes that he's just a guy that he met once in a nearby town. He tells his daughter that her boyfriend reminds him of that tragic day and leaves. She asks Santana if it's true that he once lived on that nearby town and finally realizes he's the guy who killed her mother. Santana also realizes that she's the girl he spared that day and laments to have to kill her now. Thankfully, Amorim comes back and kills Santana, saving his daughter. The police arrives and asks what's happening, only for Amorim to lie and tell them that Santana killed himself.
Amorim then comes face to face with Godói and finally kills him in a duel. Amorim then points Godói's gun against his own head to simulate that he killed himself too and waits for the police to arrive. After talking to the police, Amorim claims that he is now loose in the world, before having a flashback to everything that happened recently and going away from Lages, presumably forever this time.
