At 55:54 there is a girl behind Tulsa in the distance with red leggings on bending down to drink water. 3 seconds later as the shot switches scenes, the girl has different clothes on (blue leggings/maroon top).
At 3:30 and 3:48, the zoomed out views of the attendees do not show Scott Hubbard. But at 5:12, he appears at the centre of the hall.
Around 1:45:00, Mr. Shepherd tries to fly the shuttle higher to decrease gravity. It is true that the gravity will be decreased once the shuttle is parked in the orbit, but going higher to get into the orbit will increase gravity multiple folds, which could prove fatal for the patients of cardiomyopathies.
The shuttle is shown flying over Florida, heading West. Space launches head East whenever possible so that the Earth's rotational speed is added to the shuttle's speed to make it to orbital velocity or more.
During the launch countdowns in the movie, they count: "five, four, three, two, one, zero, ignition, liftoff." Ignition usually takes place at T-minus 3 seconds and liftoff is at Zero. The countdown script should have been: "five, four, ignition, two, one, liftoff."
In a biplane, the pilot will usually use the rear cockpit.
While the movie tries very hard to show us some not too distant future, it fails by showing us one anachronism after the other. In some scenes you can see future gadgets like transparent laptops and autonomous cars but in most of the other scenes you see present day stuff although 16 years in the movie time line have passed by. Like in the bar where Gardner and Tulsa use the tablet you can see a girl using a present day iPhone. Also the cars in the street scenes are present day cars. When Tulsa and Gardner are shopping for clothes you can see a present day shopping center filled with present day items. Tulsa actually plays a song on a Yamaha MX-49 keyboard which is a currently sold model.
When Gardner and Kendra are traveling through space on their way back to earth they are shown in a weightless state. Kendra has her hair pulled back but Gardner's long hair is down over his forehead and down on the sides. Since they are supposedly in a weightless environment his hair should be floating. His hair is long enough it wouldn't stay combed while weightless.
At their closest approach Mars and Earth are about 78 million km. apart. At that distance it will take a radio signal 4 minutes 21 seconds to travel between the planets. That means you send a message and after 8 min. 42 sec. plus, you receive a reply. This is not an interactive video chat. Both Earth and Mars have none circular orbits and complete their orbits in a different number of days. So the exact distance depends on the year. And that is the best. At other times it will be much longer.
In the credits of the original theatrical release, Colin Egglesfield is credited with playing "Sarah's Bother" rather than "Sarah's Brother".
When Gardner and Tulsa land their plane on the freeway because of an oil pressure problem, the shadow of another plane is visible, most likely it is the plane of the crew filming shots from another angle.
They say Sarah was irresponsible for having gotten pregnant, but at 11:22, when she gives birth on Mars, they wrap the baby in a standard hospital-issue new born baby blanket.
