On the Season Premiere of Make or Break: The Linda Perry Project, amazing musicians arrive in Los Angeles from across the country to vie for a spot on Linda's record label. Linda has sessions with the remaining musicians; Hunter Valentine, Van Jess, and Mackenzie. Linda gathers the artists at a unique rehearsal space in downtown L.A. to give them a test in spontaneity and improvisation. They are each assigned three random chords and given just 15 minutes to write and rehearse a song using only those three chords. Then, the artists play that song for a live audience. The pressure pushes everyone past their limits, exposing weaknesses in one band, and proving that one artist in particular is in over her head and must be sent home.

With only a few days left before Linda will choose one of the artists for her record label, she decides to have them cover her Grammy winning song "Beautiful", made famous by Christina Aguilera's chart topping performance. They only have a few hours to develop their own unique take on the song, but there's a twist; they will be recording their performances live to vinyl, and Linda will hear their renditions on a record player in her studio for the first time.

For the grand finale, Linda asks the artists to choose one song they've created during their time with her that best represents what they've learned and how their music has changed. The artists have one day to rehearse their songs with Linda, and that evening they must perform the song for a live audience.
