In the first scene of the pilot episode (Pilot (2008)), two crows are pecking at bread on the road before flying away. In the last scene of the final episode, two crows are also pecking at bread before they fly away.
The final shot shows crows next to a piece of bread with wine soaking the middle. This is the same bread seen with the homeless lady earlier in the episode. Another example of the homeless woman (Olivia Burnette) showing up at times of trouble for Jax (Charlie Hunnam).
The show's literal swan song, "Come Join the Murder", by The White Buffalo & The Forest Rangers, is a clever double entendre. A murder is, of course, a killing or slaughter. But it's also the word for a group of flock of crows. Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club Redwood Original, or SAMCRO, members are commonly referred to as crows.
The song being played as the club is chasing Connor (Scott Anderson) is also the song sung by Bobby, played by Mark Boone Junior, at the end of the very first episode (Pilot (2008)).
The quotation at the close of this episode, "Doubt thou the stars are fire; doubt that the sun doth move; doubt truth to be a liar; but never doubt I love." is from Hamlet by William Shakespeare. This series borrowed heavily from Hamlet.
