Lana Condor in To All the Boys I've Loved Before (2018)

Goofs

To All the Boys I've Loved Before

Edit

Continuity

When Peter and Lara Jean are making their relationship contract, the text of the words "ski trip" at the bottom of the list change throughout the scene.
When Peter meets Lara's dad in the kitchen Peter is wearing long sleeves, but when he shakes hands with her dad his arms are suddenly bare.
When Peter follows Lara Jean to the cafe, the cherries appear and disappear from her cup and the straw changes from clear to red and back to clear again.
The camera shows Peter smiling when he takes the selfie with Lara Jean kissing his cheek, but in the photo uploaded to Instagram, he is sticking his tongue out.
When Lara Jean passes out, in this first image of her laid out on the track, her ponytail is disheveled/wild. When they pan back to her, the ponytail is perfectly laid.

Factual errors

At 1:16, when Kitty declares "checkmate" against her father, she moves her bishop (diagonal piece) like a knight (L shaped movement) - an illegal move, and even if it had have been a knight it would have only been check (attacking the king, not capturing it).
Early into the movie, Josh surprises Margot with airline tickets (for himself) to Glasgow. The itinerary looks like this:

QUANTRA AIRLINES PNR MFDFFC SANDERSON/JOSH PDX-NYC 1435 Boarding NYC-GLA 1830 Boarding

There are several errors here:

  • Quadra is a fictional airline
  • The movie was technically filmed in Vancouver, so he would have flown out of YVR and connected for the Glasglow flight at Toronto (YYZ)
  • No airport with the code NYC exists, but Glasgow's airport code (GLA) is correct
  • PDX to any NYC airport (LGA/JFK/EWR) is a six hour flight, at minimum. He would miss his connecting flight to Glasgow (GLA)

Revealing mistakes

There are noticeable cricket sounds when Lara Jean is arguing with Peter and Josh on the porch. It is supposed to be December in Vancouver, Canada.. so there shouldn't be a single cricket sound. There are actually quite a lot of cricket sounds at night time in the movie when it's supposed to be Fall.

Miscellaneous

Most shots in the film have warping at the edges of the screen causing set pieces to appear to be bowed.
When Margot returns home for Christmas and the sisters are making cookies Peter knocks on the door and Lara Jean goes to answer it. Just before the camera angle changes a Christmas decoration on their staircase newel post drops to the floor.

Errors in geography

Although early shots of the film show Lara Jean's home in Portland, the Vancouver, B.C. skyline is clearly visible in the background of the shot when she arrives on bike to the Corner Cafe.

Character error

When Kitty and Lara Jean are on the couch watching Golden Girls reruns, Kitty says that her other sister is "doing crack," which, according to her, is how Scottish people say 'fun.' The term is actually Irish, not Scottish. "What's the craic?" "That's some good craic."
When Lara Jean and Christine are about to sit down on the couch to discuss the ski trip, Lara Jean is shown taking her scarf off before reaching the couch. When the camera angle changes, the scarf is back around her neck and she removes it a second time.
