- Rayna and Luke try to set a date for their wedding. Juliette struggles with morning sickness whilst on tour and shooting a movie. Deacon finds comfort with Luke's backup singer. Layla blackmails Jeff.
- Rayna sets a wedding date which reverberates through the lives of those she loves. Juliette struggles to manage her secret which could prevent her from getting a career-defining movie role, and she meets the leading man who would play her love interest if she got the part. Luke's new back-up singer, Pam, makes her presence known, Gunnar gets a visit from his first love, Kiley, and Layla decides to wield her power over Will.

Lovebirds Rayna and Luke are making with the kissy kissy for a photo shoot. Their portmanteau goes from "Ruke" to "Layna.' They are both about to head off on tour.
Juliette has ful- blown morning sickness. She calls Avery and leaves a message to call her back about something that concerns both of them. Glen arrives and bangs on the door mid-message. She throws up again.
Luke introduces Rayna to "Team Wheeler," his marketing and publicity team in a big conference room. Offers are rolling in for marketing options for "Layna" merchandise, but Luke first wants to work out their wedding date. Rayna isn't crazy doing this in a business meeting but he points out these are the people that handle their schedules. They pick November 1, pre-CMA, which seems fast to Rayna and also sort of publicity stunt-y, but she is charmingly steamrolled by Luke who says his ranch is lovely in the fall.
At the same moment, Deacon and Maddie are saying their goodbyes as he plans to hit the road. She grumbles about having to stay with her "strict" dad. They maked plans to hang out up at his cabin the week of November 1, pre-CMA, just the two of them. Ruh-ro. They say a teary goodbye and she calls him dad.
Luke works out with his hot trainer and confides about his troubles including his album dropping to number two and the annoyance of the the camera crew.
Juliette rehearses for her tour but she is sweaty and sickly looking. Zoey at least looks like she's got the dance moves down. But she doesn't have the words according to Juliette who is beyond frustrated and calls it off to Glen and Emily's dismay.
Rayna tells Maddie about the wedding date and, of course, she is upset and is super rude about it and calls it her "stupid wedding." Maddie also makes it clear that Deacon told her about the proposal and she is mad Rayna turned down her father. Rayna goes to Deacon justifiably upset about that. He tries to explain that he had tried to fight for her and she had a right to know that. Rayna says she's madder now and it's making it hard for her. He says it's not his job to make things easy for her. Rayna notes that it's their job to make things easy for Maddie. He agrees.
Gunnar records in his mancave-studio. Zoey comes home early from rehearsal and offers to sing harmony vocals. He declines. She notes they had an offer to play a party the next night with their band, Gunnar called it for rehearsal with Juliette, but now that that's off, they go to Avery, scoop him out of a beer bottle and tell them him the band has a gig.
Scarlett has rented a writing room at her publisher's whose excited to have a female songwriter in the house. She wants Scarlett to write something fun for the marketplace and to go out and party for inspiration.
Teddy is having a take out night with the girls when Maddie walks in in cut-off jean shorts. He objects, she rebuts. She asks if she can to go a BBQ the next night and he assents if she is back by curfew.
Deacon and Luke arrive in L.A. for the tour. Deacon watches Luke in the lobby getting mobbed by fans and paparazzi talking about Rayna. He is surly. On the way to his room he runs into Luke's new back up singer Pam who hits on him hard. He's not having it.
Juliette comes home to find. Glen and Emily rifling through her stuff. They think she's on drugs. She won't tell them she's pregnant. They says they just want to help her since they are her family. She notes they are her employees and kicks them out saying she's going to her screen test in L.A. the next day alone.
Jeff brings Sadie to meet Luke onstage in the middle of Deacon's sound check and he is mad, mad, mad. Pam hits on him again. Rayna calls Luke to talk about how Maddie responded to the wedding date and he gets angry thinking she is not taking his feelings into account and hangs up on her.
Juliette's screen test goes smashingly well with handsome co-star Noah. Everyone is pleased.
Layla and Will shoot his rehearsal and sing up close with each other on a duet "If Your Heart Can Handle It." He wants to go "train." She tells him nope he has other duties to serve her.
Maddie heads to the BBQ which is actually the Avery-Zoey-Gunnar gig, a huge party in a barn where alcohol is being served and she ditches her cute skrit for her short shorts underneath.
Scarlett shows up at the Gunnar-Zoe-Avery gig to do research on "fun." Zoey asks if she plans to partner up with Gunnar again and she says no.
Gunnar runs into a, very cute, "old friend" from home Kylie. She seems happy for his success and asks after his brother. He glosses over it.. Zoey arrives and she and Gunnar again rescue Avery from a bottle and get him on stage. He sings a song about Juliette and Scarlett is aghast at his drunken angry performance and leaves. She runs into Maddie and drags her off for her own good.
Rayna wants to fly out to L.A. to hash it out with Luke against Bucky's objections that she needs to do tour prep. She doesn't care she's going the private plane route to make up with her man.
Just as Deacon heads out to play he's asked by the tour manager to cut a couple of songs for curfew reasons. He recognizes it, rightly, as Luke punishes him for telling Maddie the truth and scheduling the fishing trip. He and Luke bicker and Pam the back up singer watches the drama.
Teddy meets a girl at a bar, a pretty blonde, but he can't make the move.
Juliette hangs out with Noah, defers a shot and a kiss as well. She says she's not a wild child anymore saying she just went through a break up. He tries to commiserate with her but she gets sick and has to leave.
It's Will's turn to go on in L.A. and he's bringing Layla with him when Jeff pulls him aside and says his female fans won't like it and that Layla's career is over and she needs to stick to her reality show. Will ditches a very angry Layla.
On the ride back from the party Scarlett and Maddie commiserate over not fitting in. Scarlett says it's what makes them artists and that the best way to deal with their deep feelings is to write a song. She says she won'tt tell on her but makes Maddie promise to call her the next time she's feeling like an outcast and considering something stupid.
Zoey tries to convince Avery not to drive after the gig. The girl macking on him offers to drive. Zoey looks to Gunnar for help but he's talking to Kylie who invites him to breakfast. Zoey's steaming.
After his set Layla lays into Will for not defending her to Jeff. Will says when it comes to music Jeff calls the shots. She tells him to man up. He says he might be gay but she's insane.
Luke plays his set and Rayna shows up and meets Sadie at the side of the stage and compliments her as the real deal. Sadie is in awe. Jeff arrives and is poisonous. Rayna surprises Luke onstage and he sings a new song he wrote for her. Deacon and Will were poised in the wings to join Luke on stage but are bumped becasue of Rayna's surprise.
Deacon is pissed comes into destroy his dressing room. Juliette is there. He is too mad to give her advice beyond either tell Avery everything or let him go. She doesn't tell him she's pregnant. He angrily leaves.
Zoey confronts Gunnar back at home, mad about him singing with Scarlett but not wanting to sing with her and wondering who this Kylie girl is. He admits she was his first love but didn't want to say that because he wanted Zoey to like her because he has no family and Kylie was like family. Zoey says he does have family, her, and she, will like whoever he wants as long as he's honest.
Pam keeps pursuing Deacon, right to his hotel room door and he gives in and kisses her and pulls him into his room.
Rayna and Luke make out and make up. As she undresses him she convinces him to push back the wedding to December and then combine tours afterwards for the "Honeymoon" tour. He is convinced: no more distance, drama, or Deacon. He shows her his new Rayna tattoo.
Will goes to train and tells the trainer he needs "something else." The trainer says he gets it. They start making out and head into locker room to get it on.
Layla goes to see Jeff in his hotel room. She tells him in no uncertain terms that he's going to make sure her next record goes gold or she will out Will.
Juliette goes to see Avery and practices her speech in the car. Then she sees him arrive with the bimbo and hat he is drunk. Up in his apartment things start happening but ultimately Avery turns her away.
He drowns his sorrows in booze and singing his song about Juliette again.
The morning after, Deacon reads the paper and sees the headline about Luke and Rayna as Pam sleeps beside him.
Gunnar goes to see Kylie. It turns out she left Texas without saying anything to him because her parents thought he was a bad influence. She still has a cassette he made for her. He says she was his first love song. She asks again about his brother and he tells her Jason s dead. He cries and they hold hands.
Scarlett works on a song and when the publisher comes in and sees it she's aghast that it is not at all fun but is apparently about peer pressure.
Rayna arrives home and Juliette is on her doorstep. She says she didn't know where else to go and thought Rayna might understand. She hands her the sonogram.
