Disappointing effort - Needed Barb

Warning: Spoilers
First of all, let me say I am a Cougar Town fan. I've really enjoyed it since the beginning and although there has been a general decline in standard since the story shifted to a family drama-com, I've still maintained an enjoyment from it.

Secondly, I've never ever written a review of a movie or TV show before, but after seeing this episode, I was compelled to write something.

I have to wonder if the actors were just outright embarrassed to be a part of this episode? They all performed well, but the material they had to work with was ridiculous.

Re-living your prom is a story that's been told a million times over, but this was just a shameful effort.

Everything was wrong about this episode, right from the start. If you're going to have a fake storm and claim you've got new patio furniture as a result, show it - let the joke land. Then the set up for the prom being at Grayson's and the chaperon saga - ugh, really? And then there's the prom, with a weak attempt at a heartfelt moment for Laurie and Jules, Grayson and Trav's clichéd discussion in the back room and Andy and Ellie's absurd storyline about past prom's and trying to be heroes.

I understand that the characters in this show are cartoons and played out to a standard of ridiculousness that gives them almost no realistic (and in some cases, redeemable) qualities as actual human beings, so I can bring in my suspension of disbelief when watching this show. But this episode just had me squirming on behalf of the actors.

This is where the Bobby Cobb character was really missing as he would have brought some light to the episode that might have made the other characters seem more likable.

Finally, bring back Barb!! Put her in a bar with a bunch of hyped up, sexually frustrated high school boys and you've got yourself a show!
