The Kickstart We Waited For
jdiana9526 December 2014
Finally, after six episodes, the show I was slowly losing attention for finally kicked itself into full motion. The slow burn of the first five episodes was at times tiring and repetitive, but in this episode, I felt the pace start to accelerate and a conflict finally settle and encompass itself into the characters and people of the nation.

The identity and motive behind each character is unique and engrossing. There is no single enemy in State of Affairs. Those who we thought to be enemies were later revealed to be allies with Charleston Tucker all along. A mixture between the tall and wide plot arcs of a masterpiece such as Game of Thrones and the political stratagem of the television giant, House of Cards gives State of Affairs. Of course this show has not mastered the plot mechanics that the show shares with its competitors (yet...), but Masquerade shows us there is far more to look forward to at the turn of State of Affairs. Episodes at this pace could jump start the show into the spotlight and shake off its initial negative reviews.
