I have been FF-ing through the flashbacks. These constant interruption to our main timeline, which already plays out over several different backdrops, are a distraction. Would have a made a decent enough episode, all of it's own. Like 'Nucky's Story". Besides I can not take a single scene seriously because I am so fascinated by these giant dentures they wedged in that poor actor's mouth. The story telling is starting to feel rushed, and yet dull at the same time. It is very hard for these mega series to ever get that final season right.

Disappointed so far

Warning: Spoilers
Like most I was so looking forward to the beginning of this final season, last seasons edge of seat cliff hangers were exceptional.
So far this season I have been bored, and left wanting more. This episode was no exception, now considering they have just killed off two central characters has made me say WTF. Although Michael Shannon's character was always a bit of a shaky one in comparison to the first season, part of me is glad he is dead, its almost like the writers didn't know what do with his characters and as such made it up as they went a long. Chalky White was a decent character, and I would have liked to have known how he found himself in prison. I know he explains in in some way but the explanation seems incredibly half assed.
We got to see more of Al Capone which is great and great to see a fellow Liverpudian do well in Stephen Graham. Again I would have liked to have seen the first and second episodes of the season show is rise instead of seeing it in a news bulletin.
I hope for more, and as of yet the show has never disappointed, but so far this season it has. I think the show peaked at season 3 and has never found its feet since.

Warning: Spoilers
The flashbacks this season aren't supportive of the story in this time frame of the series. If these had been included a little into each season, to fill in some of Nucky's history as things unfolded, they might have come off better. As it is, crowding all of this backstory into the final season just interrupts the unwinding of the tale.
The backstory of the younger Nucky as a deputy is made ludicrous by the huge fangs that the makeup people crammed into the mouth of the actor. It would have been easy to make some less intrusive caps for his teeth to make them a little more prominent, but they chose instead to buy some plastic falsies from a novelty store.
The writers have become a little frantic with this final season and are getting in their own way with the story. It's not up to the standards of the earlier seasons at all.
