The origin of this project was an online proposal under the same title and fully online. The first Is_landia took place only on Facebook as a fictional story depicting a group of teenagers discovering love and sex on their first year at college. For over 6 months the lives and dramas of 8 characters took place on their FB profiles, and also in a FB fan page and blog. Only under the social network codes (posts, basically photos, hardly any video) their concerns, actions and interactions took place to tell a complex dramatic ark, sometimes difficult to perceive as a whole (due to the internet vocation and social media flow), but definitively very attractive to an audience that had become friends with some of them and followers of the site.
The title stands for the only country in Europe capable of facing banks and restrictions during the strong crisis that started in 2007-08. Having judged some of its bankers, some of them sent to jail, Iceland became a reference for young people all over the continent, while their own politicians were unable to stop the crisis or stand on the side of their voters. Iceland (Islandia in Spanish) become the place to go, myth and paradise for young generations.
Three characters in search for love... or trying to scape from it. Casting intended to discover new faces among Spanish actors and somehow it happened with Marta, played by Ingrid García Jonsson who soon after succeed with Beautiful Youth (2014), her character sharing shots with that of Macarena de Rueda who shared later Solsticio (2014) with Angel Ari by same production company. Joan Carles Suau playing the gay flight attendant, the darkest character, has enjoyed an increasing career since then: on stage and cinema.
