- One young woman's struggle to survive and make sense of the horrific elements of her formative years..
- Sitting in a nice suburban living room, a young woman gives an account of her life. One that has been influenced by her parents, like most people. Her upbringing has been different in the fact that it was saturated with prehistoric values of women, religion, and family. Her life has been a mess of incest, abuse, and brainwashing.
The young woman telling the viewer of her story is trying to cope with decisions after the loss of her mother (Momma), the person who taught her everything she knows. Momma had very specific worldviews. Comprising the worth of men, how to manipulate them, and the most important part of life, your position in society. Momma had even more specific rules on how you became an important someone. The young woman is making her way up the ranks of society because a popular boy has asked her to the dance. She knows Momma would have been proud. She is one step closer to her goal, being someone.
She finds out that the boy has dumped her as his date to this dance. She cant bring shame upon her and Momma! She decides to blackmail a gay boy into taking her to the dance & other future endeavors. She knows that the boy is a homosexual because her brother saw him at a gay club, she doesnt mind though. She just needs to live up to Momma's expectations, at any cost.
As she successfully maneuvered her way back into social graces by having a date to the dance, she discovers that she is pregnant with her fathers baby! Momma approved of their relationship being as she was sick and unable to fulfill her duties as a wife. It seemed appropriate for the daughter to fill in, seeing as she was a nothing. In an emotional state due to her fathers bad reaction to the news that his daughter was pregnant with his baby, she tells her date about the pregnancy, her father, everything. It turns out that both of them have goals that, when working together, will end up positively due to the situation. They decide to get married and say the baby is his.
In the wake of the bender her father went on after she told him she was pregnant, he seems to be in a good mood. She feels positive about this fact, but not positive enough to tell him about her plans to marry. She isnt feeling well and her father, being paternal, offers her a drink to make her feel better. Alas, his new attitude is too good to be true and she seems to have been poisoned. In the throes of the poison, she hears her mother from beyond the grave. Momma is helping her, telling her what to do.
Emotional and scared she hears her father mentioning that his daughter has gone bad and has indicated self-harm tendencies. She then hears her brother and father fighting; she had called her brother during the overdose and he is rushing to her aid. She hears an ambulance. She might be saved yet!
We return to her when shes home from the hospital to find she almost died and she has miscarried the baby. Her father visited her in the hospital and was angry about what she had been telling the nurses. He is now in a mental ward. With a dramatic turn of events we discover that the young woman has orchestrated the entire thing. She was the one who gave Momma her pills when she was sick; she knew how many to dole out to her mother & how many would kill her. She also knew how many to take to induce a miscarriage. Her plans have worked out perfectly. Momma always said, dont get mad get even. She learned from her Momma, maybe just too well. She and the boy still plan on getting married, it will make him a sort of hero. Her brother and his partner are going to help plan the wedding. Her life and social goals are still on track, even better than before.
