Nicely mixes reality with fantasy

"The Tale of the Three Brothers" is an American 24-minute live action short film from 2014, so this one will have its 5th anniversary next year. The director is Brandon Doyen and he is also part of the big team of writers here. Cast members are not too well-known, but the movie lives through its connection to Harry Potter and J.K. Rowling mostly, even years after the franchise ended if we aren't counting the new Redmayne Scamander movies. This link also makes the film fairly popular these days. But it would be unfair to say it is just that. The execution is pretty solid, the actinmg is fine too most of the time, more in the story sequences than in the sequences where the story is told. The boy in bed isn't particularly good. All in all, it is still a pretty good story and a decent mix of reality and fantasy. The outcome is even more to appreciate seeing that it's a rookie effort for Doyen and lets hope this film is a good indicator of what the future will bring for him. With short film makers, you can never be too sure actually if they become the next big thing or never make another film again. Lets hope for the former. This one here gets a thumbs-up and is definitely worth checking out, especially highly recommended to Potter/Rowling fans. See it.
