Movie project.
Patient44421 October 2020
When the Fever Breaks is a movie made with one of the smallest budgets possibly, probably written, produced, directed by a few friends that decided to try their luck with a horror, a cheaper experience, especially if you bind it with the zombie or in the woods genre.

What I truly disliked about it is the fact that they didn't try to develop their own vision, but copied everything already seen on the screen, in order to make it feel like a movie. So we have the most stereotypical characters combined with standard dialogue lines and reactions that make no sense but always seem to find their way in these movies. The action is easy to predict, fighting scenes are sped up but constantly with shaking blackouts, and overall a bore of a view.

When you start from rock bottom, usually, your only way is up, but somehow sadly here they decided to crawl along, move a little and call it a day. I wish I could appreciate the effort put into it, but there is none, even tho they found a way to make this work, a horror in a house, zombies outside, easily a tribute to Night of the Living Dead, yet the final product is weak and uninteresting.

I say, do try, and try again, only that next time, be brave and show us something different. Something that came from your own imagination and not copying what others did so many times before. I look forward into that.

Cheers!

Just another generic zombie movie...
paul_haakonsen2 December 2020
I happened to stumble upon the 2019 zombie movie "When the Fever Breaks" here late in 2020. And being a huge fan of all things zombie, of course I had to sit down and watch this movie from writers Lucy Clay and Tymaine Clay. Granted, I hadn't even heard about the movie prior to watching it, but it being a zombie movie was more than sufficient to make me sit down and watch it.

And it turns out that "When the Fever Breaks" was just another generic zombie movie which borrowed heavily from "Night of the Living Dead", except it just didn't manage to reach that timeless classic zombie movie to the ankles. "When the Fever Breaks" just didn't bring anything new or interesting to the table, so it was essentially just stuff that has been done and seen countless times before in other, and better, zombie movies.

The acting in the movie was adequate, taking into consideration that this was not a top of the line Hollywood production. At least it seemed like the actors and actresses involved in the movie were having fun.

A zombie movie usually needs to have gory effects and good visceral gore, "When the Fever Breaks" didn't have either of that. It was low budget and low key effects, but at least it was slightly more than just people painted grey in the face and having colored darker circles around the eyes.

I managed to endure through the ordeal, though I was hardly entertained, much less impressed. "When the Fever Breaks" is not a noteworthy addition to the zombie genre.

My rating of "When the Fever Breaks" lands on a three out of ten stars. For a zombie movie, "When the Fever Breaks" just didn't pack enough of a bite, much less of a groan.

I love zombie movies, but are yall serious?
mommabear-6037325 February 2021
I LOVE zombies movies. Its not like the story line was bad but I almost stopped watching this in the first 15 minutes because of how bad the acting was from George. Can we say roid rage over acting! OMG It was painful to watch. Sorry dude it was. I understand its a indie film, and low budget but having a different actor play that part would have made this movie soooo much better, loved the end though!

So freaking bad
nardobram@yahoo.com29 November 2020
First rule with Zombie movies. They can't be boring. This move is boring and so many other bad things. The acting is mediocre and I really hate when they try to make movies like this deep. All of these characters are supposed to be friends but there is no connection whatsoever. These characters are written so one dimensional that you have no interest if any of them live or die. The main antagonist guy over acts so much but I don't blame him entirely, it's the way this poor script is written. The directing is bad but there are a few clever angles. But don't waste your time on this movie. Luckily I was doing bills while watching so I didn't have to watch too much of this piece of garbage. And the first review is right, they just copied every single other zombie movie out there. Try to be original if you're going to make a movie like this.

What's worse, the acting or the dialogue? The editing is also a headscratcher. How they got financing for this atrocity is the real question.

Fascinating Premise
scottyknows817 December 2020
The strongest part of this film is it's core, a mother coming to terms with her fate in a short time isolated with her daughter. The zombie situation works well as catalyst, but it's in this character study of the mother with her daughter that the story is unique and truly worth checking out!

Good concept but that's about it.

Warning: Spoilers
When the Fever Breaks is a movie made with one of the smallest budgets possibly, probably written, produced, directed by a few friends that decided to try their luck with a horror, a cheaper experience, especially if you bind it with the zombie or in the woods genre.

The "Night of the Living Dead" narrative is the baseline. But, with modern talmudic GIRL POWER to the extreme. This one 5-4, 110 lb deathly sick woman singlehandedly kills a platoon size antagonist.

The acting is really bad. None is even close to legitimate.

The zombies look okay, but the people over act and the different scenerios are stupid. Watching it is catually painful.

What happens when you're locked up inside.

This Indie version of yet another Zombie movie has its characters struggling to survive among friends. Thats what separates it between this zombie movie and the rest . It has good production value with good interior sound and coloring. It's original and not bad for a genre that is a bit saturated.

Tense and timely Indie
beemtoaustin20 November 2020
If you think zombie apocalypse movies have run their course, think again. This award winner, made on a micro budget, seems to have at its core a real passion for the movies that gave birth to this genre in the first place, not the slick Hollywood stuff bleeding more cash than effort. Darn good acting throughout and I hope to see more from this ambitious team, maybe with a real budget., they sure deserve it.

Reminiscent of Night Of the living dead
awilliamsmedia7 January 2021
Good movie, although two things: the second half is far better than the first (it starts pretty typically and seems run of the mill) and the second is I wish there would've been more realistic reactions to a person getting bludgeoned to death (as well as the other deaths that occur and the relative nonchalance with which it's observed).

Original and Unique Outbreak Movie!
CEEarl9 January 2021
The film started out quickly and didn't waste any time before getting into the action. It also took plenty of time to give depth to the characters while keeping the story exciting. I love how we also got characters with some different age ranges which also separated the film from others. I liked the back story of the characters and personalities to help you care about them. I also enjoyed the surprises and the production value and creature sounds were cool and creepy.

A Zombie Movie Worth Your Time
derrickfury-876-12735827 November 2020
There are a lot of zombies around (especially in the indie space) unfortunately most are just a cash grab that don't offer much in more that blood and gore. However this one feels true and honest in it's approach to the genre. Plus its a well crafted film that is actually scary. Imagine that, a scary zombie movie... who would have thought. George Romero would be proud, definitely worth checking out.

when friends are worse than zombies
AvaCincotti23 November 2020
Zombies are not the only enemy in the movie, friends can also be dangerous. Good acting, especially the kid, good directing. An example of how to keep an indie low budget horror in one location without many special effects.

A Clever and Timely Thriller
briandilorenzofilm1 December 2020
Genevieve Gearhart is excellent as Skye, a mother trying to protect her daughter in the middle of a zombie apocalypse, forced to trust a shady group of strangers. Cool fight scenes with some nice stylish touches, flashes of violence outbursts amongst the survivor group and other moments of terror. Timely and clever commentary on human behavior during the midst of a pandemic (even if that pandemic is filled with zombies).

Low-budget Horror That Packs a Punch

I always enjoy real-time, one location films. This low-budget zombie flick manages to serve up some great fight scenes and build tension throughout. Props to the special effects team for all the realistic bruises and gore.

New Indie Zombie Flick
JGReviews3 December 2020
I'm a big zombie movie fan and I was happy to stumble upon When the Fever Breaks. The film focuses on one of most compelling scenarios in any zombie story -- what do you do when you're about to turn into one of them -- particularly when you have a child to protect? It's also a fun home survival setup which I find to be more enjoyable since it's easier to envision yourself in that situation (if there ever were a zombie apocalypse haha). The film is an indie so it's definitely a bit raw, but I tend to appreciate that in this genre since When the Fever Breaks and others like it can often bring a fresh take on things. Definitely worth your time for zombie movie enthusiasts like myself.

Solid Zombie flick
NZfilmfinder14 November 2020
I'm a big fan of the Zombie genre and it was great to see a film that paid tribute to the classics that came before it, with a group of survivors trapped inside a house trying to escape the Zombies outside and fighting paranoia amongst themselves inside, this is a modern version of Night Of The Living Dead, along with solid performances, great Zombie FX, Kinetic editing and a dark ending this is definitely worth your time.

Savage and gory but fun
mitch-5095515 December 2020
A good old blood and guts romp! Shows what you can do on a micro-budget with a lot of talent, imagination and energy. Fiercely committed performance from the whole cast with the Oscar for Best Supporting going to the little girl.

A zombie movie that hits its marks with a cool efficiency.
DWKingFilm17 December 2020
When the Fever Breaks is an indie zombie movie that's directed with a sure hand by Tymaine Clay -- with heart, excellent acting, cinematography, music, and editing. If you're a Walking Dead fan, this film will appeal for its fresh take on the genre AND on what occurs after one is bitten. No spoilers here, but it's worth watching, because the people who made this film gave it their all and pulled it off. Kudos to the filmmakers and actors involved.

A Zombie movie that is actually about the characters
catia-ojeda20 December 2020
What I love best about zombie movies, and all disaster movies, is how the characters respond. This movie understands that, and boils a zombie epidemic down to just a handful of people, trapped in a house. The tension starts high and ratchets up throughout this movie. At the core is a wonderful mother/daughter relationship, and we tensely follow how, and if, they will survive the others in the house, let alone the zombies outside. A great ride.
