Disillusioned by the reality of the media industry, journalist Emma Liebenberg resigns after her first day at Blink magazine. Lorraine, Brad Jooste's mother, ensures that Brad's music video trends on YouTube and suddenly doors in the music industry open up for them. Isabel Richter lives for the spotlight, but is tired of the dubious nature of the musical theatre industry and decides to quit her aimless career.

Brad Jooste signs an album contract with BVJ Records, gets a makeover and is forced to choose between old friends and his new sparkling future. Isabel auditions with a vigorous vengeance, but loses out on the lead role once again. Emma grovels to get her job at Blink back and tries to commit honourable journalism, but sows havoc as she goes.

Isabel tries to be professional at the musical rehearsal, but is reprimanded by the director and decides to resign from the production. To make matters worse, Jacques gets offered the male lead role in the same musical. Emma is praised for an article that she is secretly unhappy with and Lesley shows her the ropes on unauthorised photojournalism. Vicky is a dancer on the set of Brad's new music video shoot and they socialise after the shoot against Lorraine's better judgment.

Blink is sued for an article that Emma wrote. Under pressure, Emma gives in to unconventional stress relief methods. Brad takes Vicky on a romantic outing, which drives Lorraine to take the Vicky-matter into her own hands. At the insistence of her parents, Isabel applies for a clerical position at a law firm.

Hugo saves Emma from an embarrassing situation. Now indebted to Hugo, Emma is forced to be at his beck and call. Brad is labelled as a 'player' by the media with Vicky as one of his many trophies; Vicky is furious. Ben Humann shows Isabel the ropes at the law firm, whilst Alexia zooms in on Jacques at the musical rehearsals.

Jacques and Isabel plan a romantic date, but Jacques never pitches. Emma darts a famous gospel artist in the forehead and starts searching for skeletons in his closet. Lorraine informs Vicky that Brad's contract at BVJ Records forbids intimate relationships of any kind and that, if Vicky really cared for Brad, she would leave him be.

Emma delves deeper into Ruan Greeff's history and discovers an illegitimate child. With Alexia's ankle injured, Strauss offers Isabel the lead role in the musical.

Isabel misses the theatre and doubts her relationship when she walks in on Jacques in deep conversation with Alexia. Emma struggles with her own morality when Ruan Greeff begs her not to publish the story about his illegitimate relationship and child. Brad reaches the end of his tether when he breaks a CD in Joe's office, but Lorraine blackmails him into asking forgiveness and continuing with his contract at BVJ Records.

Isabel moves out of Jacques's place and in with Vicky, which gives Ben the green light to flirt with Isabel. Emma decides not to publish the Ruan Greeff exposé, but Hugo manipulates Lesley to hunt the story down and hand it over to Ingrid. Brad hires an official manager, but Lorraine sabotages this new development by slipping sensitive information on Brad's past to the press.

Isabel calls it quits with Ben, but mysteriously then gets offered the lead role in the Egoli Musical a second time. Emma finalises and takes the Hugo-exposé to Jaco Jansen at Forté.com, but he turns the article down.
