Touching

Warning: Spoilers
The movie was touching, unfortunately they don't reveal what Alison's final choice was. That's why I can't give it a good rating.

Misinformation
saramgia11 February 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This is not as described but rather is an anti-Roe v. Wade film they show in clinics that pose as women's health clinics to prevent women from terminating pregnancies. It presents false information regarding pregnancy, zygote/embryo/fetal development, abortion, and abortion providers. God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are portrayed as ideologues whose dogma is that of the West Borough Baptist Church. These and all character portrayals are necessarily shallow. Its portrayal of the one black couple is offensive in its racism and stereotyping. Everyone in the movie is literate, except the black couple, who are ignorant and stupid, and incapable of uttering a grammatically correct phrase or behaving in an unaffected, normal manner. Every time a woman gets an abortion, movie-god bawls. Quote from receptionist: "In my day a woman kept her drawers on, because she knew if she didn't, there would be a heavy price to pay." The movie preys on young women's naivety: every woman has unlimited resources; every unwanted child grows up to be a wonderful person.

What I expected
courtney-forshee1 August 2023
This film feels very much like something that is shown to preteens and teens in youth group at church; it's targeted to a very specific, prolife demographic that works to convince women in continuing their pregnancies so as not to make Jesus cry.

Jesus being a janitor feels like a steal from Bruce Almighty - I recognize that Morgan Freeman was God, but it's literally the same profession. He also appears white/Caucasian, which we all know to be historically impossible.

There is definitely some misinformation about fetal development and how these kinds of clinics are run. The portrayal of a woman clutching her man in the waiting room or staff members pulling her aside to offer their two cents isn't realistic. "Seeing" the baby was totally cringe and not at all what this would have looked like in utero at the time of development.

I understand that abortion isn't for everyone. But it can save lives. This film would have you believe differently through a Christian leaning lens.

You can't hide behind LIES.

The idea of this movie is great , convincing a mom to choose life for her baby, but using bad theology won't help. I found this very disrespectful to God Almighty. God talks to us through His word NOT through friendly visits like those of a janitor.

They should have used the truths in the Bible. Much more effective.

About what I expected
halfblooddor8 May 2024
Warning: Spoilers
As soon as I saw that the movie was free on a YouTube channel called "Christian Movies", I already knew pretty much exactly how the movie was going to go. What I didn't expect in this movie was how bizarre it is. It's kind of entertaining, I wasn't expecting to be able to get all the way through to the end. Unfortunately, this movie takes place entirely at an abortion clinic, so the setting is less than interesting. We do get some location changes in the form of flashbacks or dreams, but they're fleeting moments. God is a character and this God in the movie is actively telling Alison what choice to make. One would think if literal God showed up and told you not to abort your baby, you wouldn't have to spend an hour and a half thinking about it. Peppered throughout this film are comically evil medical staff, black stereotypes, tons of misinformation, and scenes of God emotionally manipulating Alison. Not a single character does anything surprising in this movie. Most of the scenes go on for too long and it's not worth watching again, let alone once.

This movie is only good for people who already agree with the message, not a general audience.

Marchiano's Masterpiece!
jchristopher33087 April 2016
Alison's Choice is one of the most important movies ever made. How many movies can literally be responsible for saving a life? Alison's Choice is such a movie and if you haven't followed this film's production you should know that it has already saved lives! That kind of power goes far beyond the qualities of the productions you'll see on IMDb's top 250 movies list!

That is not to say that Alison's Choice is in any way lacking in production quality, though. This is Bruce Marchiano's masterpiece. He wrote the incredibly moving and powerful script and brought that script to life from the director's chair in his directorial debut all while giving another touching and memorable performance in the role of Jesus. One cannot help but be moved by the passion Bruce had for this project.

Chanel Marriott also gives a wonderful performance in the role of Alison. She perfectly captures a combination of self-righteousness, anger and rationalization with a blend of sorry, fear and despair. It should be apparent to anyone viewing this film that this fantastic young actress certainly has a bright future ahead of her.

The soundtrack is excellent and plays a vital role throughout the entire film. There are moments that will make you cry and there are other moments that will make you smile or laugh and that is quite a feat considering the serious topic being addressed in the movie.

Overall Alison's Choice is one of the best movies I've ever seen and I hope many women faced with the same choice as Alison in the movie watch this before making their decisions. Bruce Marchiano deserves considerable credit for making a pro-life film that does not come off as preachy or judgmental. There's just a very well made story about Christ's unending love, passion, grace and mercy for all of His children.

Hate the sin, but love love love the sinner

God has unwavering love for us people making difficult choices. His love won't diminish if we make a bad choice but there will be consequences.

Not misinformation, very important information.
optic_source24 July 2020
This is about a young girl, who is lost in decision making. Following her boyfriend's wanting her to make the choice to do something leaving him out of any responsibility, ( showing the coward that he is) he recommend her to do something that is a hard choice which can cost her, her whole life. I find it very important to share this with others. For a women to really understand the Results later. Either going through the process or living after the process. The choices are yours. The living after the choices one makes, has consequences. Not only to the body but your mind. Recommendation, highly to watch this movie.
