The film opens up to the song "Rinconcito En El Cielo" by Ramón Ayala Y Los Bravos Del Norte, considered one of the most influential Regional Mexican/Norteño music bands of all time. The opening scene shows Ramón Ayala (played by comedian Rick Gutierrez) performing in a nightclub in 1975-1976 where Gabriel Iglesias' parents reportedly met, with radio personality Eddie "Piolín" Sotelo hosting the event. While Ramon Ayala was already a major norteño artist by that time, "Rinconcito En El Cielo" didn't come out until 1984, and a more fitting host for that time would have been TV personality/Tejano artist Johnny Canales.
