The velociraptor was much smaller than portrayed in this movie and is apparently confused with the larger Utahraptor. This is a popular misconception because of the "Jurassic Park" series.
Emmet describes his nightmare involving a dolphin to Lucy. Lucy tells him to think of something with less fish. Dolphins aren't fish. They're mammals.
