Very Good Documentary
Rumble on the Lot: Walter Hill's Streets of Fire Revisited (2013)
*** 1/2 (out of 4)
The first of two feature-length documentaries on Walter Hill's STREETS OF FIRE is without a doubt the better of the two as it features interviews with Hill, actors Michael Paré and Amy Madigan and art director James Allen.
THe real highlight of this documentary is getting to hear from Walter Hill, the man behind the film. Hill manages to get a lot of screentime as he talks about all aspects of the production from how he got the idea for the story, to it finally getting a studio to back it and then we get into the screenwriting, the casting and of course the production.
If you're a fan of STREETS OF FIRE then you'll certainly want to check this out as there's a lot of very good information told here. You'll certainly get a very detailed look at the making of the film including various setbacks that happened and of course the disappointing box office is also discussed.
It should go without saying but the film ended up having a successful life on home video and has since become a cult favorite. Everyone involved here tell some nice stories and gives fans a good idea of what was going on behind-the-scenes.
